I was there for his first goal against foggia, i was there the last minute of his career. I was there for all the years he played and i still cry. I hoped to die before

I think that Totti would've deserved a 10/10 on playmaking.
I really can't recall anyone better than him in this fundamental...
"Totti is the best 10 of the modern era" (Diego Armando Maradona quote)

The only Player Who denied Real Madrid. And they did almost everything to get him.

As a Juve fan, I applaud the magnificence of Totti. What a player.

Amazing player, great character. He loved AS Roma more than the money or trophies. That"s why he refused to transfer to Real Madrid. Respect Francesco !

Ironically, Roma's biggest successes on the international scene in last 30 years came shortly before he made his debut (UEFA Cup finals 1991) and shortly after his retirement (UCL semi-finals 2018). However, his flair, his skills, assists and goals, passion and celebrations, his loyalty, his leadership and career longevity will be remembered forever. An immortal Prince of Rome.

Regardless of the fact that he never left Roma, back in the day when I followed football more closely with my friends, everyone knew who Totti was and respected him immensely. Hell, I was never a fan of Italy and even hated them a bit (especially after knocking out my Germans from 2006 World Cup), but if you asked me back in the early 2000s who I want as a 10 and a captain on my team, the answer would probably be Totti more often than not. Not only because he was good, but because I loved his dedication and loyalty to Roma. You can't buy that kind of thing and you probably won't see it again in modern football.

His departure drove me in tears despite not even being a Roma fan 😭

Totti was the best playmaker in the history of football, far better than Zidane or Xavi just to mention two champions. The bias here comes from the fact that he ended his career as a striker, but in the first place he was a playmaker, and his number in terms of assists and key passages easily outnumber the ones coming from any other player. He also was one of the best scorers of all time, as he scored an incredible amount of goals playing half of his career as an offensive midfielder. What Totti lacked was just the dribbling, an average 6, 5 out of 10, especially in the final part of his career. Totti was preferred by Florentino Perez to Zidane, and they got the French player only after Totti refused many times, and he was not even at the best moment of his career. Totti was considered by Pelè and Maradona as the best player of his time and one of the best of all time. The comparison with Del Piero it's not real, cause Totti outmatch him in any stats and he was preferred by all the CTs of the Italian national team. Lippi, a historical coach of Juventus, preferred Totti to Del Pierodespite the fact Totti was injured for months and recovered only a few weeks before the World Cup. We are talking about a legend, far better than players like Zico, Del Piero, Eusebio, and in my opinion even better than Zidane and Platini

He should get an extra 3 points for staying with one team.

Easily would have gotten 10/10 for playmaking by players, ex-players, coaches and pundits alike. If you'd saw him the entire game you would realize how intelligent he was at creating spaces for his team mates, only for them to let him down most of the time.

My favorite memory of him is his last match at the San Paolo. There was a camera on him in the corridor to the field(the old one that is not used anymore) and there is a mural of the skyline of Napoli. Totti touched it and had a look in his eye like that just said, I love this place and I will miss playing here. There is no love between Napoli and Roma supporters due to the death of Ciro Esposito but Totti will always have respect from Napoli. Una Legenda, una bandiera, unico, there will only ever be one Francesco Totti.

The best vision i have ever seen in a footballer. Dude could hit a no look 70 yarder and would drop right at a runners feet. Magical talent. Imo much higher than zidane .

The best and most complete attacking player I have seen in my lifetime. Yes, he can do things on a football pitch that Messi and Ronaldo cannot. His vision, passing, playmaking, striking with both feet, an absolute dream of a footballer. If God made the perfect footballer, it would look like Totti. Maradonna himself called Totti the best modern footballer. I think Diego knows.

He doesn't get the hype for todays generation because he isn't French or played for Barca/Real or in the Premier League. But during his peak, no one could touch Totti when it came to technical excellence and playmaking abilities. He was also very skillful flair wise and scored many goals. A 10/10 player for sure. For the young kids who judge past players on their FIFA Icon Ratings, he would be a 90 base, 92 mid and 94 prime 95 moments. 5 star 5 star too. Absolute legend of Football.

One of the greatest players I have ever seen and as a Juventus fan he was the player that scares me the most. I have nothing but respect for Feancesco.

Totti is the best player of all times, you maybe just didn't witness his quality, he sacrificed himself for his loyalty. Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, all the great players are ok, I truly respect them but I'm seriously saying Totti was something else. I've never seen a more complete player than him. He has almost every skills a footballer can have.

About Totti and adaptibility... Yes, he never played for another club. But he proved his adaptibility in another way. By being able to play in many different systems under different managers. On several positions. Left winger, second striker, false nine, attacking midfielder...

My father named me after Brazilian defender Aldair, who handed Totti the captain’s armband. What a player Totti was, much love in my heart for him.
