I went to see the AN-225 when it landed in Las Vegas, Nevada many years ago. This Airplane was gigantic! I am deeply saddened by its demise.😢

I think I saw this plane take off one night from D/FW when I worked at the post office there. The tail and number of engines were the same. I can't think of anything else like it.

It was rumored they had some spare airframe/fuselage that could be used to rebuild her.

I hope it can be rebuilt someday. There might have been another incomplete airframe.

Only saw it once in Calgary, Alberta. Guess I'll never see it again. It was impressive.

You could hate Russia for this alone. A whole world of aviation enthusiasts mourn this aircraft. 😢

Such a great ingenious aircraft, died by the hand of ignorance and evil. She is missed, but never forgotten. Viva Ukraine!

They just wanted to go after their morale, as to either anger them or make them ashamed.

This amazing plane can’t go out without any fighting attempt to save it.it’s one of its kind and it’s a very useful aircraft that all of us around the world can benefit greatly from it. Let’s not end this without even trying to rescue it.Bring it back to life 😅it deserves a second chance ❤

Only one AN-225 was ever built by the Kiev-based Antonov company, which came up with the design.
There is a second body and material to build a second AN-225, but the initial cost of 500 million per plane, the second one was never built in the mid 1980s.
A second AN-225 began production in the late 1980s, but, in 2009, when the aircraft had still not yet been completed and cost over runs, production was abandoned.
Antonov, in mid-2022, reported to rebuild the world's biggest cargo plane, the AN-225 “Mriya” it would cost $500+ million. It is understood that the rebuild will cost around (in today's money) about $3Bln and will take up to five years to be restored to its former glory. This information comes in a statement: "The company said the following in March 2023: “The restoration is estimated to take over 3 Bln USD and over 5 years. "
The Russians destroyed Antonov AN-225
"It was destroyed as Russian forces fought to seize the airport in late February, 2022, in a major symbolic blow to Ukraine as it sought to prevent Kyiv falling. The Russian military held the area for several weeks before Ukrainian armed forces claimed it back. "We are conducting a fair investigation of this case."

A C-5 Galaxy parked right next to it at a Paris Air Show in the 1970’s. That shut them up.
