I grew a beautiful popcorn variety that I heard you mention in an earlier video. It grew and dried perfectly. Although I couldn't get it to pop well. So thanks for the air popper idea! I will try that.

I find the blue variety to be the tastiest. It has a nice nutty flavor. I also notice that it somewhat suppresses the butter oil and the flavacol that I put on it.

Ah, I get to be the contrarian. I always transplant corn. I can plant it a bit earlier that way since I don't need warm soil for germination (the plants tolerate cool soils better than germinating seeds do) and I have perfectly filled rows. The best way to do it is to transplant it pretty quickly. Don't try to grow big plants in pots, just stick them in the ground when they have three leaves or so, which usually means they're only a couple of weeks since planting. I have never had any issues transplanting corn this way.

Popcorn does (usually) have genetic incompatibility with other types of corn that limits cross pollination. There's a fair amount of research on it if you want to look for papers on the topic. Search for "The maize Ga1-s allele confers protection against ga1 pollen in popcorn and dent corn" if you want a specific example that I was able to find quickly.
