For the Adam question I was lowkey expecting a 5s shot of Adam just... Standing there in the room and Bruce simply answering "No."

For my money, Adam Neely, Rick Beato, and David Bruce are the three best music YouTubers. Always insightful and thought-provoking, never egotistical. 👍👍👍

Loved the questions and your answers!! Thanks for answering mine :) Great point about the upright really being a different instrument to a grand.

Regarding “lacking confidence” or “hating” your work: it’s something that comes up for everyone who creates. I always remember a drawing that I made one evening when I was very young, and I thought that it was quite good. The next day I could only see the flaws in it, and felt embarrassed by it. My father, who was an art teacher told me that “every time you make a piece you grow a little, and when you feel it’s no longer good enough it just shows how much you’ve grown.” That’s stuck with me. Thanks dad.

I need more of this. These answers are very thought provoking. Especially your insight into writers block was very helpful to me. I also love that you have met Rick Beato. I love it when all the music Youtubers I follow end up knowing each other.

I kind of hope your channel stays on the smaller side because I love the intimate way you interact with us and answer our questions. A large channel simply can't maintain that level of closeness.

Thank you for the time stamps! That (as well as your concise & entertaining presentation) shows that you have enormous respect for the time of your audience. And that sort of consideration is not only an excellent trait for a human being to have, but also for a musician.

Have you ever thought about writing a piece for pipe organ?

Excellent video, as always. I can´t deal with Feldman's music, but the problem is on me, I suffer from anxiety and that affects sometimes my musical perception. I need that "something happend" in the music, that things changes at my own speed, that's why I love Stravinsky for example and that's why I love your music.

I'm a senior in high school and I'm going to be a performance major next year, so I always love watching your videos to see music from a different perspective. But interestingly enough, it was your comment on writer's block that really hit home with me. I've been writing a novel for the past year and I got stuck at a certain section because there was a character I really wanted to turn out well, and I didn't feel I was writing them up to their capacity. After hearing your bit, I immediately opened up my draft and wrote one of my favorite scenes as of yet, because I didn't write the character how I wanted others to perceive them, I wrote them how they spoke in my head. Whatever my first thought went on the page. If I went on a tangent, I developed that tangent and made it integral to the characterization and development. I keep replaying that bit over and over because of how much it spoke to me.
I know it's not for music but thank you for opening my mind up. :)

My God... That "theory" of your late friend's was beautiful beyond words...
Being spiritually and intellectually oriented myself, I got shivers listening to you explaining it.
Thank you so much for sharing, it means a lot. If anything, my reaction proves your friend's theory in a way...

I'd love to see Mahler's 9th and Bruckner's 9th analyzed.

Rebuilding the universe... I like it! I didn't expect a philosophy lesson when I clicked but I'm glad I did.

David, just a general comment... love your channel! from a person who was pushed against composing in college... love that you're putting takes on composing out there in a world that has nearly no things about it to see or reference. Peace and be well!

I feel immensely proud for being able to listen to whom I believe is an extraordinary living classical composer. Thank you, Mr. Bruce.

This is excellent, as always. Your channel is so good - I can't believe the wealth of music knowledge there is on YouTube, and yours are right up there with my other favorites.
