Being able to build a house under 30yrs old is truly a blessing. Here in the US I had to actually move back into my childhood home due to rent doubling!! Its beautiful and well deserved!

I'm in my 40's in the USA. My family built their house from the ground up through 1994 and 1995, moved in in 1996. It's wonderful to be apart of building your own home, because you get to see the entire process and then once complete, YOU are the first person to live in the house, the house has no past lives, any memories made there are YOUR memories. Congratulations on a beautiful looking little aussie home. We have several entire photo albums, actual camera photos of the entire build process. It's pretty amazing.

Also please sing in your garage more for us!

From both friends, family, and colleagues I’ve heard so many horror stories from building a house. Financially it may make more sense, but buying an established home is so much less stressful (still very stressful, just less).

Last year, I purchased an unfinished new house. As an IT professional who has never built a house or done anything more than changing a lightbulb in my apartment, I rolled up my sleeves, and with the help of my wife, we set out to finish the house. It’s almost ready now, and according to plan, it will be fully completed by next summer. We are currently laying granite tiles, building parking spaces, and painting the house is next. A crazy journey that we’ll remember for a lifetime. Greetings from your subscriber from Bulgaria. :)

In the UK its very rare to be able to buy land and then build the house. Most of the big developers snap up large parcels of land, and then build the houses and keep the profit. This means that new builds are often of a poor quality and have a bad reputation.

I wish we had more options to buy up small parcels as I know some many people in the trades I could easily arrange for a house to be built to the highest of standards.
