Many children born in the 60's and 70's were taught to speak only English because our parents didn't want us to have any setbacks as it were. Assimilation was the name of the game. I give her credit for trying and speaking quite well.

I love your videos. I learn more Spanish from them. I love that the point of your videos are educational not bashing others for not speaking a second language perfectly. Many people in the comments are so rude about it. Learning a second language is not easy. Yes that means even if your heritage is from a Spanish speaking country does not mean it’s easy to perfect the language.

Spanish just sounds so familiar and at the same time foreign to me. I speak Filipino and through 333 years of colonization the Filipino language sounds like a weird Malay Spanish English Chinese hash. Anyway in my time Spanish was already dropped as a language taught in schools. My parents lived through the time when Spanish was required, in my case English and Filipino are the official languages so I never got exposed to Spanish. However I also speak Cebuano which is another language that has even more Spanish words in it, and yet another language in the south, Chavacano is the only Spanish Creole in Asia spoken in Zamboanga, much like Patua is the Portuguese Creole spoken in Macau. Anyway I learned Eu Portuguese so I sort of understand some Spanish.

When I hear people say that she’s doesn’t speak Spanish well it makes highly doubt that I would be able to speak it any better since I’m learning later in life without growing up around the language 😢

I don’t speak Spanish but jlo Spanish sounds like Spanish with an American dialect or accent if that makes sense

I find it interesting how people who “professionally “ speak Spanish and correct those who actually do. It’s like someone studying English correcting those who actually speak it. Every language has a certain dialect and slang- it might not be proper- doesn’t mean it’s not right
