@TheNoorac
yeah the mistake is that she doubles the 6 to 12/2 to match the down part of 1/2 and than adds the top but this is a multiplikation so you cant do this, could just write (6/1)(1/2) and there you go. i mean on example 4 she does it right

@Stakkarskatt The way it was done in the video is correct. Neither 6 nor 1/2 is a variable, so they can be written 6 1/2 and still be a single number. This number IS equal to 6.5, because .5 is 1/2 of 1. You don't multiply the 6 and the 1/2 together, you are adding them to get their true value in an improper fraction. This value MUST be equal to what you had before, so multiplying them makes no sense.

Anyone else think she should do this with a word processor or just plain text editor instead of drawing?

People lay off. She just sounds nervous but this a great tutorial. I like to say I'm math retarded but this tutorial even helped me. Thanks female bucky.

I don't know how you could teach maths at Harward if you can't even spell Harward properly

@ardizt 8 % 2 = 0
8 / 2 = 4
Just thought I'd allow you to see the differences in the two signs. a % sign used in any computer language where a / should be located will give you the remainder. Please, just use the correct key.

@Stakkarskatt You're not only teaching it the wrong way, but you're ignoring the lesson AND teaching it the wrong way. The number is 6 1/2 or 6.5. 6.5 in an improper fraction would be 13/2. You multiply the whole number you are adding to the fraction by the denominator. You add this number to the numerator and keep the denominator. This will give you your new number, or 6 * 2 = 12. 12 + 1 = 13. So it is equal to 13/2.

Furthermore, to do a degree in anything, you need good language skills. Dyslexia is just being spread around like wildfire now-a-days, it seems like everyone's got it. I think its just people having being taught English wrong or punctuation just being very difficult to maintain with most people.

@happycoupleLA It is bad form to reply to oneself, but I need to add this. When you make mistakes, your student will call you wrong about the things you get right. Remember, your audience has not developed the neurology necessary for math so you can't expect them to think logically about it -- they don't even know what that means! Confidence is a MUST!

Keep it up, though! You guys are doing a good thing.

It may help your site if you do this in takes. Instead of trying to get it perfect in one shot, take your time. Do multiple runs. Each screen can be thought of as a "scene". When you get a screen perfect, keep it. Then edit them together. I've tutored and taught math and physics, and for the layperson desiring basic math skills, teachers' mistakes are poison. Your target audience is children and adults who grew up too lazy to learn. Think about that.
