My dog trainer said to put 50 pieces of food in a bowl at the beginning of the day, then take 10 pieces at a time and work on training. This adds up to 5 times a day in short bursts. It really helped me stay accountable and kept things short and sweet. Nan and I are working and getting better and better!

Dog Trainer here with more than 20 years of experience: The power of your voice only works if you didn't "burn" your voice already. If you talk constantly with your dog, your voice becomes the infamous dripping faucet which you don't hear anymore after a few days.

Your dog doesn't need to hear where you're going when you leave the house or how traffic was when you come home. A simple "wait" and "hi buddy" does the job.
Once you stop constantly talking to your dog the entire day, your voice becomes very powerful. Imagine your dog's reaction hearing a "hey!" after four hours of silence.

My dog doesn't care. Toys? Doesn't care. Food? Doesn't care. A guy who farts 100m away from us?

People are amazed with how obedient, chill, and SMART my 4 month old French Bulldog is. My secret: I watch McCann Dog Training videos and and don’t do any guesswork! I’m so thankful for this channel. I wish I had these videos 16 years ago for my late doggy. I could have done better. How much more wonderful would his life have been if he was trained right, emotionally balanced and obedient?! McCann come to San Diego for a seminar! Me and my puppy Max will be there!!!

When Kayl was yelling “YAS!” my 10 week old puppy came running to see what was so exciting! 😆

It's nice to see actual dog trainers on YouTube. I am suspicious about a couple of the "dog trainers" that show up when I search

The clip with Carol going through the park fence was awesome. That is what our "walks" look like just to get out the back door to the driveway. I felt like I was doing it wrong with the stop/start like she demonstrated.

i apply everything that i learn from this channel and i am amazed at how quickly my three puppies (littermates) adopt the new objectives. thank you so much for sharing this information so freely. carol, kayl and ken - you all have helped me and my dogs immeasurably and my only wish is that there was a mcCann training center in my hometown so i could just spend my time watching the YT videos to get up to speed with all that you'd be doing in place of me so as not to ruin all of that excellent training.

This helped me so much to get so much more of and understanding about getting my pup to listen to me, he’s very hyper and whenever my friends, family come in he gets very excited and jumps up up on us is their anyway I can stop this excitement so he’s calm whenever somebody comes in, just so he doesn’t end up knocking over one of my younger siblings, thanks you guys so much for this help

Thank you. Short sessions make sense, especially for younger dogs or new tasks.
Working on handler excited and fun place for dog to be can also be exhausting on handler and dogs can sense emotions well. Short, focused sessions seem logical there too.

Oof that husky pulling and waving his paws is so accurate. Just like my guy when he enters the red zone. 🤦 Luckily he's doing better with training! Thank you so much for this video. Just what I needed.

Can you guys do a series on what training can look like for dogs with anxiety or dogs who are naturally nervous? Y’all have one video on it but many of the videos y’all produce are for dogs who are friendly and love people and other dogs. This makes it hard for those of us with anxious dogs because we have to navigate through the anxiety first before who start applying the training tips you guys give.

I really love this channel I recently got a puppy he is four weeks old as of yesterday and yes I am aware that is too young normally but extenuating circumstances let me to get him so that he would not go to the pound and I absolutely love him already so I’ve been watching this channel trying to prepare myself and make sure that I am getting the best information so that I can be a great leader and have a very obedient and loving happy healthy pet son

Thank you so much for doing this!!! My dog focuses somewhat when I’m inside the house but he cannot focus outside!! I’m trying day by day to get that ‘focus’ cue right and on top of it!! Thank you!! Also cheese is a great reward lol

I love that in a short skit you showed us a bit of a way to use long leash. Could you show us more on this. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to hold long line all the time, or drop long line? Also, what length long line do you suggest? I own 40 acres in upstate NY and am working on recall for my 5 month old Irish setter. Thank you. You guys are the best.
