Brandon Bailey / American Airlines Chief Pilot / Fighter Pilot

I first met Brandon Bailey over 20 years ago as a new pilot working on his commercial license. In the years since, he has served the United States in combat operations as a F-15 fighter pilot, is an Airbus Captain and Chief Pilot for American Airlines, and currently flies the F-15 for the California National Guard.

In addition to all of his career successes, he is still the amazingly humble and kind person I met decades ago.

Great interview! As a Retired AA Captain its great to see the company still getting the quality pilots we need. My son is also a Captain with AA and is also working outside the cockpit at AA to help the company become better for our Pax and the employees. Take care of your crew and they will take care of the passengers to present a great product. Well done!

Met Capt Bailey at March Airforce base last year, chat with him sitting in a F-15C. Great interview.

What a great interview! I appreciate how you celebrated not only Captain Bailey’s solo flight as his instructor, but now his role as Chief Pilot. What a cool full circle moment!

What a story and a career. Very impressive. Hoping to do something similar - reserves/guard are the best kept secret!

Incredible interview with a really incredible aviator and man. I was so pleased to see that Brandon flew with the 333rd FS Lancers, which was my squadron when I instructed A-10 RTU. Thank you for this podcast!

Thank you for sharing this great conversation! I’m a student at Fresno State and always love seeing those F15s fly overhead! I plan to hopefully start my flight training journey soon and found all these stories so awesome to hear!

I’m currently building my time right now for the commercial license at a part 61 school. And listening to this podcast make me really want to join the Air Force but I don’t have a bachelors degree. But on the bright side I’m only 20, and still have a lot time to do it. Hopefully one day that door will open that for me!

After flying T-37 for 2 years…back in 2012-2013 I literally didn’t wanted to move up to any other aircraft coz i was madly in love with this tweety bird..
Can you imagine Pak Air Force still have it in service and being used to train fighter pilots for their transition from prop to jet conversion
