At 1:31, ''Admirable'' is a compliment for how well the player is fighting him. Some other possible translations are ''Bravo'', ''Very Well'', ''Brilliant'', etc.

"Ah, i'm sorry, guys... Sif..."
It's that much more sad knowing his last thoughts were of Ciaran, Hawke, and even possibly Ornstein. Ontop of Sif, of course.

Translation of cut content, peak lore analyzing.

This fight with that dialogue gives off such strong Ludwig vibes. Miyazaki must've been in full Bloodborne mode when he made Artorias of the Abyss dlc.

**** SPOILER ALERT

Notice that Artorias's last words here in Japanese "結局、何もできなかった" are the same as Genichiro's last words in Sekiro before he uses the black blade on himself.

One thing I hope I'm not the only one finds quite moving about Artorias: he's the only boss whose dying scream contains that of a human. You can clearly hear his human voice at the beginning of his last shout, as it slowly withers away into a corrupt gurgling reminiscent of all that is abyss-like.

Truly a magnificent moment, I believe Miyazaki cut this great dialogue out to let the player boil in the feeling of sorrow that is bound to be experienced by meeting such a legend in this state and only like this, without being able to hear what they were truly like before failing their noble mission.

And it is outstanding to see how these past few years the community has gathered to look into the japanese meaning of the dialogue, to truly see what Miyazaki had in mind and clear our doubts further. Great work

Unrelated, but man, 200 damage meant a lot more in the older games. That's practically chip damage anymore. I wonder what caused the "inflation" of damage.

If he had dialogue would be the most memorable boss

I love Artorias so much, this dialogue is so depressing, he’s the only one who experienced the true terror of the Abyss.

I just wanted to comment on how it seems like there are people who don't know what a "Cut Dialogue" is

Gods too were hollows before they found their great souls in the flame, but they separated their souls from dark with great strength, only to be consumed by it while fighting against the spread of the Abyss.

I really do wish this wouldn't have been cut...

Holy fuck... I didn't know he spoke. Hearing his voice is so nuts.

I mean he's not really assuming your good so much as it seems he's hoping that humanity is more than darkness.

That is a ton of damage for the longsword

Can we please talk about how Artorias' screaming and grunting sounds a lot like Guts from Berserk?

There's no way that wasn't intentional.

Knowing that Artorias did not innately see a glimmer of light in mankind but merely hoped that the Chosen Undead _might_ not be pure dark changes my perception of him and makes him less heroic in a way, but the fact he thought humans were capable of harboring some light is meaningful, too.
