I love how you admit your own short comings. It makes me relate to you more and makes improving my morning routine seem much more accessible.

Tl;dr
1. Don’t go on social media first thing in the morning, do other activities first.
2. Don’t eat an unhealthy breakfast, a healthy one gives you more energy and reduces anxiety and health issues.
3. Don’t hit snooze (self explanatory)
4. Don’t complain (about how early it is, how tired you are, etc. )
5. Don’t clean up. Do that the night before.
6. Don’t plan your day. Do that the night before to reduce stress and have a clearer plan.
7. Don’t start your day with negative news.
8. Don’t wake up at inconsistent times.

I wake up and my body just gravitates to email, I don’t even enjoy it, just a bad habit.

I can’t be productive if I’m listening to music, podcasts, or using my phone. For that I take off social media during semesters, set pomodoro timers and I charge my phone away from bed. Good luck to you all that have finals in a few weeks!!

All of these are great tips. I used to wake up, lounge in bed, check FB, check the news. Got to work, ate a terrible breakfast, then sat at a messy desk. Now I get up when my alarm goes off, actually get out of bed, don’t check my phone (unless I have an email that looks urgent) until I’m on the bus to work, eat a good breakfast and drink a pint of water before leaving the house. I sometimes watch YouTube while I’m getting ready but restrict it to channels I like, positive content like this or tech stuff. Setting up properly at the start of your day is so important for having a good one. Great video 😊

Totally got out of rhythm this morning, had a rough time trying to get stuff done for a while. Funny you posted this the same day, super helpful!

I personally find it more beneficial to plan my day in the morning. As something with chronic health conditions, my energy and productivity can change dramatically. So I spend about half an hour checking in with how I'm feeling pain-wise and work out what I can handle that day. This is not to disprove anything Thomas is saying!! It's just interesting to see our difference in logic and experience. Also shows how are very personal.
