If you don't like it, you can disable roll by clicking the options button and going to the output tab of Opentrack.

Thank you, Wicked Wookie! We hope your community has an amazing time exploring the Beam Eye Tracker.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. Got Beam Eye Tracker a few months ago, didn't really gave it a try yet with Star Citizen. BTW, I think I found how to disable the roll. In SC, look for Enable Roll in FPS and in Seat, put them to no and it should do the trick.

I bought it! It works great! And one of the recommended cameras is a $17 webcam I bought pre-pandemic (which was then selling for over $50 as everyone scrambled to get on Zoom).

Interesting! Competition is good for driving development and pricing for the consumer. Yay! 😂

That's amazing! I've got a mirrorless camera running through a converter box I use for zoom calls, I'll have to see if the software handles it!

Tried the demo a few minutes (only because SC is barely playable more than that for now), along of course with Opentrack, and it seemed to work great. I used to try with only Opentrack, which is a head tracker, but having only the head being tracked made it unnatural to fly. Using both makes it smooth and fluid.

By the way, Im wearing glasses too and it still tracks properly.

I’ve used AITrack with Opentrack (which doesn’t use eye tracking) to get head tracking with my webcam. The head tilt issue can be solved by deactivating that axis in Opentrack.

I’m gonna have to check this out!

Got it and will give it a try. There is currently a 20% off so got it for ~$23 USD. Took a bit to figure out how to set it up as Star Citizen has about 10 cameras listed when I only have 2. I'm using a older Logitech 260.

I actually bought a decent webcam to use with this software, couldn't justify a dedicated device for head and eye tracking.

I find the head tracking works great and the eye tracking pretty good too. It seemed not great at first, but I've found having the camera below the monitor vastly improves detection of eyes. With the camera high up, I had to just about pin my eyelids up! Works great with glasses too!

OpenTrack is a fantastic piece of free software. Haven't tried the Eye Tracking from Beam but I haven't really had too many issues with the default head tracking opentrack provides. Great for DCS and pretty good for Star Citizen. You have to dial in the settings. If you really want Eye tracking, then maybe try this? But for raw head tracking, Beam is not needed.

I have one of the recommended cams, so I'll give it a try, as it may help with ATS/ETS2.

Very interesting! An idea how it would work with Glasses? Anyone help with this?

I've tried it out with my old 30fps webcam, and it was bouncing my vision all over the place.
Now I got a 60fps camera, and the calibration doesn't properly work. (I tried it several times to recalibrate).

I guess it doesn't work with glasses that do not have protection against reflection and with a room that has poor lighting.
Maybe when I get some lighting behind my camera, it will work better.

Great review wookie, I need to get this!

Thanks for this It works awesome. I don't need the facial tracking that makes you look like you're having a stroke most the time.

Anyone know why my look left and right is inverted when i just use my webcam?

I tried inverting it on my webcams program and changing settings ingame but still no luck

Idk if my camera just sucks or what

Hmm... $30 is not bad if you are only interested in head and eye-tracking... I just don't like that I would have to sacrifice my FOIP for it. Before I acquired a Tobii, I used my logitech c920 and it worked just fine for head-tracking without the need for any additional software, but I just didn't have eye-tracking and would have to recenter from time-to-time.
