UA: Rebuilt Wire Recorder Brings Post WWII Recording to Life

Показать описание
Wire recordings of holocaust survivors made by psychologist Dr. David Boder shortly after World War II, thought to have been lost, were discovered in the archives at The University of Akron’s Drs. Nicholas and Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology. It was not until a working machine could be pieced together that the recordings could be heard.

Outstanding work. Thank you for doing this.
I'd never heard of a wire recorder until today when I was reading the wikipedia entry on musician and producer Herb Alpert. From there, I went looking for videos about wire recorders and was glad to find your video. So important!

Jamie Newhall, Jon Endres. I'm not quite sure how to contact you but I own a working wire recorder and would be willing to donate it to your efforts. It literally runs with vacuum tubes and I have recordings that I have played on them. They come from my grandfather and as we are of German heritage they are German. Sounds like operas. I live in Madison, WI and am therefore very close to the UW-Madison. I'll monitor this post to see if there is any response and also try to find your contact info on the web.

I just bought a wire recorder for $ 14.00! Nice unit and it came with two spools labelled "Christmas" and "Barbara". Can't wait to hear what is on these.
