What's not being discussed enough is the real and potential impacts from the fact that in Kursk and Belgorad, rich agricultural bread basket regions of Russia, hundreds of thousands of hectares of ripening grain will now not be harvested, unless Ukrainian farmers cross the border to reap the harvest as spoils of war. The economic ripple effects of this situation beyond the loss of the fully invested but not yet harvested crops will be registered on the Russian economy in several billions of dollars in lost economic activity. The fleeing agricultural populations of Kursk and Belgorad can be none too happy with that!

If the Ukrainians manage to salvage the ripened fields and ship the largesse south to Odessa for sale and export, it will be an unexpected windfall for the beleaguered Ukrainian economy.

Dictator putin hoped to take Ukraine in 5 days. Over 900 days later and Russia has been invaded for the first time since WW2. Putler is a genius playing 5D chess 😂

*General Chapman is definitely a favorite military expert* that it's always a pleasure to listen to and learn from. Compared to e.g. Sean Bell—who by the way is wildly overrated, addicted to cheat sheets, offers little more than clichés and layman analyses, and with a track record of incorrect predictions (that apparently go unnoticed)—I choose the sharp and listenable General Chapman every day of the week.

It just seems to me that the medieval tactic of chevauchee may be relevant here. The strategic goal was not to control territory, but to send a message to the inhabitants: "Your King (or in this case, the Tsar) cannot protect you. You owe him no loyalty." You start to work loose the connective tissue of the enemy kingdom, the people's connection to the ruler. The fact that the Ukrainians are digging in suggests to me that things are going better than expected and they see a chance to give a good, hard yank rather than a wiggle.

yes logistics is king in warfare, its the life blood of your army, you cut off supply lines to miliary units, they can collapse due to surrenders esp. with low morale poorly motivated units.

How about all Russians withdraw from the internationally recognised country of Ukraine as in 1991 and we have a demilitarised zone inside Russia and Belarus?
