I had this same conversation with a friend of mine that is parent you should NOT be walking around naked or even half naked in front of your sons same for daughters and fathers there is an age where you cut that off as their minds develop it can be confusing or just as they said disgusting.

I’ve been ill most of my life. My kids never know anything until they NEED to know and thankfully we have never really made it to that point. Chemo, surgeries, etc. Kids don’t need to know until you’re recovered or close to it. They need to be exposed to real life happenings but they don’t need to shoulder it.
