Tony Blair BLASTS the Tories on 'Hope'

Показать описание
Blair attacks the Tory "Hug a Hoodie" campaign in his final Queen's Speech debate in 2006 against Conservative Party leader David Cameron.
Mr Blair, with the burdens of office soon to be removed, is enjoying his Commons appearances more and more and is taking on the air of a stand-up comedian, complete with that slightly odd mock-cockney accent he sometimes inexplicably deploys.
He spent his speech not talking about the Government's legislative programme but being sarcastic about Mr Cameron. "Hope is not built on talking about sunshine any more than anti-social behaviour is combated by 'love'," he said, making an inverted commas gesture to highlight his point.
In case Mr Cameron didn't get it, Jack Straw helpfully expressed the phrase "hug a hoodie" through the medium of mime. Once you've seen that there's little that Parliament can do to shock you - or so we thought.
Mr Blair told his opposite number, "The next election, it will be a flyweight versus a heavyweight. And however much you may dance around the ring before times, at some point you'll come within the reach of a big clunking fist.
"You will be out on your feet, carried out of the ring - the fifth Tory leader to be carried out, and a fourth term Labour Government still standing."
