I heard about a doctor that didn't want anything for pain. A few minutes into his colonoscopy he was screaming, and begging.

This is why affordable healthcare is important. She could break her jaw doing it herself.

My brother told me a story about his ex wife, She fancied herself a medical professional (was a non medical employee at an old folks home) Well, She is on the table getting ready to get a colonoscopy and she tells the Gastroenterologist she doesn't want to be put to sleep or have any pain killers so she can "observe" the procedure, The Doctor doesn't reccomend it but, she insists. The Doctor starts the procedure and just as he start to insert the scope she start screaming "PUT ME OUT! PUT ME OUT! PUT ME OUT!" LOL! I couldn't stop laughing at the sheer stupidity!

A typical American without dental/medical insurance... the options are miserable.

I really wanted to mock her, but then I listened again and realized, she probably didn't have the money to cover the surgery and this is healthcare in America.

If the tooth hurts, there is probably an infection in there. Pulling it yourself without treating the infection can be a major and even fatal risk. Infections anywhere on the head are no joke and can easily spread to the brain.

As a dental assistant I witnessed a patient having a root canal done without anesthetic. I was sweating bullets next to patient’s chair, expecting him to jump any second..yet he was assuring Doc and myself that he doesn’t feel more than a mosquito pinch.
Prior to work being started on him, he disclosed a medical condition that makes him not to feel pain.
However this lady is missing common sense and she can break her jaw. More money spent afterwards to fix it…
P.S: local anesthetic is not charged extra, unless you choose on top of that nitrous or to be put out to sleep completely.

Yeah, I don't blame the woman for trying to pull out her own tooth when pulling a tooth is thousands of dollars, make healthcare affordable and then judge.

Welcome to America. Where poor people would rather extract their own teeth without anesthesia than pay what they can't afford. We need national health yesterday.

I am a dental hygienist.
The last office I worked at there were 2 women who couldn't be bothered with being numbed for the rest of the day. So they did everything without the numbing.
I'm not just talking about cavity fillings or pulling teeth. These women would literally sit through a root canal and crown. They didn't even wiggle or flinch! They are the real badasses in this life!
Those women have the best pain tolerance I have ever witnessed.

We need free dental care for adults not just children

This is a much more complex problem than just common sense and education. This has everything to do with being able to afford these services. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to afford basic healthcare or dental care.
