The Insane Rise of Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham’s hire of Ange Postecoglou caught a lot of fans by surprise, but in a refreshing change from the Premier League norm especially amongst the bigger clubs Tottenham is giving an opportunity to someone who has absolutely earned that chance based off of their performance in lower leagues.

Better yet, the vast majority of Ange’s work happened outside of Europe, a great example of how Premier League clubs can benefit from an outside perspective… if he succeeds. Ange is used to having people doubt him so I wouldn’t count him out, even if most people are saying that Postecoglou will be out of his depth, it’s not the first time.

Much Love,

Ange wasn't blaming the players in that interview IMO, he was irritated with the youth systems within Australia which had those players ill-equipped to play at the required level to succeed.

Aussie, here. Very cool to see you make this video. His career is legitimately a FM journeyman save.

An important thing to note about Ange's "failures" with the U20's Australian team is that in 2005, Australia brokered a move from Oceania to Asian Football Confederation. This made qualification to youth world cups much more difficult

I'm a celtic fan. We're sad to see him go. He genuinely provided me with some of the best moments of my life as a fan and his fitbal was a joy to watch. We love the big the guy. If you hear a celtic fan say otherwise its just because we're hurting. Hes an all round top guy and honestly one of the best managers in the world. I hate tottenham but they've pinched a gem

Thanks for giving proper context to Ange's time in Brisbane, they were a joke before he took over, for obvious reasons. After he was done their squad became THE benchmark for any other title winning team in Australia, not just for winning, but for the style in which they did it. Anyone gets the time they should look up highlights of the grand final between the Mariners and Brisbane Zealand mentions, insane comeback and one of the best grand finals ever in the A-league.

What a crazy career he has. I love how he signed 6 Japanese guys for Celtic. It confirms what Bojan Krkić and Diego Forlan said that the Japanese league is much more competitive than it seems.

Crazy to think that my dad was ange postecoglu’s first signing for south melbourne and now ange is managing one of the biggest clubs in europe. Small world

Dont think the video quiet highlights the mess at Celtic when Ange first came in. We lost/sold 18 first team players, lost our long term CEO, Hired a new one before he also randomly left 2 months later. Lost the whole recruitment and scouting team and just finished the previous COVID season 25 points behind Rangers. Ange also got hired after the start of pre season, rocked up by himself with no backroom team and went on to win a double against a strong rangers team that got to the Europa league final. He played some of the best football i have seen in my 30 years of going to celtic Park. Phenomenal manager

Ange is a legend in that interview, tells it like it is. He isn’t blaming the players, he’s blaming the system they’re brought up in.

As a Celtic fan I'm absolutely gutted he's left and wished he'd stayed. That should be all the testament needed as to his meaning to the clubs he's managed.

Spurs are lucky to get him I think. Exactly the type of manager they need right now, not one to paper over cracks but to completely rebuild from the ground up.

Spurs fan here, can’t say I was overly excited about Ange from the start but the more I hear and read about him I’m turning around.
He is just what we need right now. Here’s to the Aussie revolution in N17🇦🇺🇦🇺

In my youth I wasn't as much into football as I am now. But, the spark for me for my love of football came on Orange Sunday. Coming from 2-0 down in Extra Time Ange got the Roar back in it and won the league in the shootout, against none other than current Australian Coach Graham Arnold, and current National Goalkeeper Mat Ryan. Tottenham, from every club that has ever had Ange grace them with his presence, we can assure you that greatness is coming.

I’m a Melbourne Victory fan. He was with Melbourne for roughly a year and completely turned the teams fortunes around. Seeing Australia win a major international trophy was unreal too. Tottenham will 100% win something with Ange in charge. The man wins wherever he goes.

Celtic fan here, absolutely love the man. Hope it goes better for him at spurs than it probably will do.

Yo man been watching you for a while from glasgow. Big Celtic fan and in my lifetime I’ve never seen any manager like big ange. He really is something special and I think the English league and fans in all their entitlement have already written him off just as fans have done anywhere he has been. All you have to do is ask any Aussie or talk to any Scottish football fan and no matter what team they support, they all say ange is special. I just can’t wait to see him prove everyone else wrong once again. I do like these more long form story telling videos and since you seemed interested in Scottish football there isn’t many channels telling the stories around the historical battles and controversy that has plagued the Scottish league. Just a suggestion but keep doing what your doing man. Big love 🫡💚🤍

As an Arsenal fan whose best mate is a Rangers fan, I'm terrified of Ange coming to Spurs! Despite the fact he isn't the big name like Nagelsmann, this guy has a ridiculous track record of making things that shouldn't work, work... Then there's Celtic who were a solid outfit who he improved. If he's given the freedom to make the changes he wants, Spurs could be a serious threat in the next couple of seasons!

Got to love the Deportivo La Coruña away shirt. Much appreciated from a Depor fan!

For those of you interested, a save with Deportivo on FM is highly recommended. Spanish champions in 2000, Champions League semifinalists in 2004, now in the 3rd tier of Spanish football.
