And yes I know there's a million ways to make it, this was just the way I did it. Thanks for watching!

Great idea. Only thing is you may want to add a screen over the over flow end to keep mosquitoes from entering there. The overflow on our whole house rain catchment system I wrapped screen over the pipe with zip ties. All I have to do is remove the zip ties to clean the screen.

I think I would not put the overflow pipe directly above the spigot, I would shift it off to the side so that you can use the spigot when it overflows without getting wet. It would also make it easier to drain the overflow into something else or maybe connect another container on the side.

The rain catchment system looks great. I have two and paid big bucks for them. Yours is amazing. Just a thought, why not add a second barrel and have the overflow go into the second barrel. Use the overflow also! Anyway, what a great idea this is! Take care!❤️

This video made the most sense out of all the ones I have watched. Thanks for this.

Great idea and extremely value added considering the cost of retail rain barrels if you were going to purchase one. You can also add a small piece of screen to the end of your pvc runoff piece to prevent creepy crawlies from climbing in through the pvc. 👍

Great job! I enjoyed it, tremendously!

Looks good! The only thing I did differently was to put mine on cinder blocks to raise it off the ground a little. It helps to make the flow faster, but I have a longer hose, so maybe I needed to.
Have a great day🙂

Nice 👍🏼 you could also double or triple the water collection by making the overflow pipe longer and placing it on the side so you can connect another trash can - doing it that way could make it easier so you could make each one designated for particular use - for example one can be fitted specifically for irrigation and so on, great video, thanks for the ideas 👍🏼

Great DIY rain barrel idea and execution! One suggestion is to put a piece of the mesh to cover the overflow spout so mosquitoes don’t find their way in that way as well or put mosquito dunks in there to kill off mosquito larva. Place the catchment where rain will fall off your roof. Even without gutters, you will collect much more than if it was sitting out on it’s own. When you get the dog houses, put gutters on them with one of your rain barrels to catch off their roof. The more surface area to collect rain, the faster it will collect even if just a light, short rain.

Ingenious... You Could also link two or three cans by the overflow and connect to future down spouts when that time comes. Saving water is always a good idea.

I have no idea what's going on, but I've picked up something upsetting has. I sincerely hope you return. You have excellent style, I love how you have pulled both your homes together. You inspire me. Blessings my friend. 💕

Looks good! Setting something up below the overflow to catch that water would be a good idea. Why allow all that good water go to waste? Also, if the overflow is positioned at the side of the trash can, instead of directly over the water spucket, it would give you more room to put a secondary catchment basin up beside it

What an awesome set up. Best part, pretty cheap way to harvest H2O. You would actually be able to filter that water to drink using a Berkey Water system. Definitely going to be doing A few of these for garden watering.
P.S. maybe set your container up on something so you can put a bucket under tap and not bend over as far.
Blessings as you encourage others to be creative. 😊💕🙏🏻🇨🇦

Great idea for inexpensive catchment Jared. Absolutely love your shirt as well. As time and finances allow, you can add more and more barrels.

That’s a great idea Jared you get two rain catchments instead of one and it will help from having to go to the well to house all the time to water your animals another great video
