While I enjoy Kyle's videos on a great many things, I have to question the narrow focus of the argument here. Yes, wearing masks does reduce (by how much is hotly debated, and challenging to determine) the Covid transmission rate. And yes, reducing the transmission rate by any amount does reduce the opportunities for Covid to evolve. The very same could be said about the Flu and common cold as well though. If everyone wore masks in crowded places all the time, forever, it would reduce the transmission and evolution rates of many airborne infections, and this has always been the case. The question wasn't "Do masks do anything beneficial at all" though, it was "Do you still need to wear a mask", a question poorly answered by providing an answer to the previous question alone. There are a lot of other factors that deserve a consideration in the latter question.

A lot of lives could be saved by limiting the speed of all consumer automobiles to 60 mph, but by simple virtue of that fact does that mean it "needs" to be done? Maybe, but there are more dimensions to consider when posing that question.

Currently live Idaho and I'm pretty sure here I might just be refused service if I wear a mask. If folks want to wear a mask for specifically the pandemic then I won't judge one bit. Though, what I do hope happens is that masks become a regular go to thought for those who feel sick. I don't want a future where everyone is wearing a mask, but I'd love one where those who feel sick put one on in regards to any disease.

We just need to adopt what Japan (and maybe other countries, not sure) does and wear masks if YOU feel sick to prevent spreading it to others.

Not just for covid, but sickness in general.
