The hardest part about math is figuring out "WHY"

Technically, only the second works as it asks for “square roots”. Otherwise, we think of principal square root

Is this useful?
Yes
Are you gonna remember it?
No

Root of 25 itself is +-5, we cant put +- in front of root 25 otherwise it becomes +-+-5( atleast this is what i have been taught in school)

sqrt(x²)=y if x>0 x=y
sqrt ((-x)²)=y if x<0 x !=y
===> To guarantee that x=y in both cases : |x|=y
To get the positive number of an even root, you must use the radical sing:
sqrt (x²)=y
To get the negative sign:
-sqrt(x²)=-y

Ive always wondered why the root of
x^2 = |x| when square root can be both positive and negative. Does anyone have the answer?

good little factoid: sqrt[x^2] = abs |x|

It is correct to use that symbol when you do stuff with square roots because: - • - = + but in cubed its: - • - • - = -

radical of something is positive by definition and UNIQUE. There are two solutions to the initial equation x²=25 which are x1=radical(25) = 5 and x2=- radical(25) =-5. The second writing is illegal for two reason: 1. a radical is function then it has a unique value and 2. a radical is positive.

You wrong, there's the module in every √x², both are incorrect

X=5 or x=-5
Since a radical has two roots

This would be correct if in the beginning you had clarified that x can be negative.

Wrong notation. It's not ±5, when you have a square under a squate root, the result is the absolute value of it, whether it's positive or negative. Not a binary result, unless you're working on functions and finding roots of equations

It's sad to see that so many people don't understand this in the comment section

it’s the same thing. it doesn’t matter unless it’s x squared by 3

but isnt square root just reciprocal so it becomes 1 over x^2???

Ok fun fact, on most of the calculators if u out -5^2 the answer obtained is -25... like what!?

This is partially correct .Gain some more knowledge before giving . I don't even want to give explanation to this answer just google the following
1. x² =|x|
Or
2.x²=±x

The correct answer is 1 while taking square root but if you are finding zeros of an equation only for that case x² =±x

It's my request to delete this video as this will spread wrong information among students
