They’re right. X-(4+A) using the distributive property, this is equal to X-4+X-A which is equivalent to X-4-A (aka what they wrote.) If you used pemdas, it would be X-4A which is not the same as X-4+X-A. X-4A is actually the same as X-4xA. That’s changing the equation from subtraction to multiplication. You learn this is middle school math,
