I grew up having meat pies. Around Christmas mom would make a topping for it. And it would fill the house with a wonderful aroma that just added that extra something during the holidays. She named it chili sauce. But tastes nothing like chili. If anyone is interested..
1 28 oz can tomatoes diced.1 cup sugar.1 cup vinegar.3 chopped onions.1 tsp salt.1 tsp ground cloves.1 tsp cinnamon. Mix into a medium pot and simmer until thick for about an hr. Stir often so it won’t stick. Freeze in small medium mason jars take out with pie when needed. For those who don’t like ketchup on it. I alternate 😊

Just love how quick and to the point your videos are, and all your recipes are delicious! This pie was fabulous. I used a very sweet red wine and the flavour was rich and delicious.

Made this for dinner last night. GOOD!!! (I did end up adding some peas, mushrooms, and chopped carrots.) Hubby didn't care about the puff pastry topping so I just did regular crust on top as well. (Hey, I needed the practice anyway since apple pie season is almost upon us!) Subscribed! And thank you.

This was the first time I made a "meat pie, " and it was so delicious. I followed directions carefully but held back the salt because I used "Better Than Bouillon" beef broth. The meat pie was so good that it is going into my cookbook of my family's favorite recipes.

A great looking pie made in a traditional French style 😊.That's old school but cant be beaten & you don't need to over complicate it! You can also change out the red wine for something else from a good Ale to brandy brandy. The pastry is just as important as the filling & if buying instead of making your puff top here in Australia I like to go with an all butter puff, makes such a difference but you also cant beat making your own if you have time.

I made this pie for 6. I died. I went to heaven. The blind baking was....interesting.... as I used 2 fairly large INNER dishes but I mixed and matched and, voila!

Tried it today. It's so delicious that I wrote about it in a blog. The pastry, I just buy from supermarket. I tried both short crust pastry and the puff pastry.. My husband commented both were nice. The difference is that short crust is more doughy and filling while the puff pastry is lighter. My hubby commented the beef filling was really yummy and wonder if we should eat with Yorkshire pudding instead of the pastry

My Scottish friend introduced me to meat/mince pies a decade ago and I was HOOKED!!! We do happen to have a British store on the outskirts of town that makes them. Homeade goodness. Expensive but worth it. I forgo the ketchup/catsup, though.

OK so I found this video a few days ago and absolutely had to make some. The accompanying website with detailed cooking instructions is excellent by the way. My pies turned out exactly like the ones in this video, and tasted fabulous, most likely the best pie I've eaten, or up there with the best at least. I managed to get 7 pies from this recipe. If you like a good meat pie do yourself a favour and go make this!

I make pies all the time and this is near exactly what I do after years of perfecting pie making only just a couple of extra additives like bay leaves and garlic but no doubt that would certainly add to the flavor .
