Heat the Platinum until it's molten then throw the other metals into the molten puddle. That way you aren't cooking the other metals beyond their melting point for so long. You weakened them. When alloying, it's always best to melt the metal with the highest melting point to molten FIRST. Try this experiment again!

Bros doing the blacksmith equivalent of mixing all the shampoos together in the shower to make a super soap 😂

A bunch of sword makers just rolled over in their graves watching him melt all 3 metals together.

It's almost like we have over 5 thousand years of metallurgy history that says this is a bad idea.

I appreciate how you show us your trials and errors, just shows that you don't act like you're perfect and that you have a sense of curiosity and honesty

how they've lasted in the jewelry industry this long is beyond me. they don't even know the basic properties of these elements.

You know if he studied a bit of chemistry he could've realised this would happened. Before he even tried it.

You would get more copper purity from electrical wire. The copper in a penny is like 925 silver

It needs to be before 1942 to have 95% copper, 1982 was coated in zinc and contained 0% copper

Add the metals in reverse order of their melting point that way you never go beyond the heat needed. As you add the metals you can cool down to the next melting point and keep the integrity of each metal. You will have a much better result. You will also want to hammer it flat then melt it again.

Melt it in vacuum. The metals are getting oxidized before they can get mixed. This is causing the alloy to be brittle.

Fun Fact: Rich people should never be trusted with metallurgy.

Making alloys is not like combining all the soaps to make the ultimate soap with hair conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and shampoo.
