I would pick the Summit carb hands down. Over all the years of tuning Holley carbs and working with others that tuned them, we always had a "wish-list" of things that could be integrated into the Holley 4150/4160 design. The Summit carb addresses most of those. There are some very distinct advantages with the Summit design, -and for the price tag it can't be beat. One last thing I want to mention, (and this is coming from someone with over 30+ years of tuning Holley carbs), -your review was exceptional, very objective, and technically correct, -I would like to applaud you for that. I cringe when I see some technical videos on youtube that give out incorrect information, or poor advice, you my friend did nothing of the sort! Thanks!

I have not tried the Summit carbs. But after seeing this I might give one a try. I help some of the young kids around my home with budget builds and the summit carb could be a way to cut the cost down a bit.

ThunderHead289 great video I've run all 3 and other than choke adjustment the Summit 600 just works. The Edelbrocks get some hate but they just "work" too. I have a Holley DP (Proform 650) on my 65 Fastback with a top end I have to tune this week. Half of me wants to just put on a Summit 600 and call that the tune up :). But I do like to tinker and I've rebuilt a few Holleys so I'll tune the DP. Sorry you got so much hate in these comments its totally unwarranted. I love the hobby. The haters are just an annoying fact of life.

Thank you for the video. I learned a lot. I have a first generation SBC 350. It has a Rochester quadrajet which is not getting fuel past the incarb fuel filter. I probably could use a rebuild at this point. What do you think would be my best option. The motor is all stock in a classic car. (Auburn Boat tail speedster soon to be in a movie coming called Beach Bum) I was told I should put an Edelbrock performer intake and a Holly carb on it. Can you help me with what you think would be the best thing I could do? Warm regards John

Love your vids. So it sounds like the Summit carb has most or all of the good parts of each design. Would you do a deep dive video into Summit carb tuning? Like to see how you access everything thru the top.

Ill soon be in the market for a carburetor. Im used to working on edlebrock, i liked the simplicity of the 1406. But im totally open to holley, brawler, summit and whatever else is available. The new edlebrock avs2 annular boosters does interest me. Whats your thoughts on the avs2?

"Let's compare a Holley and Edelbrock and see which is more adjustable. So, for the Holley, we're going to use a carb that they may make, but is entirely different. And for the Edelbrock, we're going to use a Quadrajet knockoff built in China. Yeah, we should learn a lot." Just in passing, I'm a fan of the Edelbrock and have had good experience with them and bad experiences with Holleys, including the Street Demon, but I did have a Summit 500 on my 305 in my T, and I liked it a lot. Ran well, but didn't get as good fuel mileage as the Edelbrock it replaced.

The Edelbrock doesn't have a secondary idle adjustment like the Holleys. This feature is nice if you are running a larger cam.

why use the summit carb for demo if the holley is right there also?

You didn't mention the annular boosters on the Summit for better fuel atomization over the 1st generation Edelbrock.

People like to argue...like Ford vs Chevy. Good review, and pros and cons of each carb well stated. Thank you. I've had the Holley and the Summit and like them both. My friend likes Edelbrock on his stock Chevy....so I was curious.

It is confusing to say it is the AMOUNT of vacuum that determines when the vacuum secondaries or a power valve opens, as if they open under increased vacuum. It is vacuum LOSS as the throttle plates open that determines those.

Hey there, i have an older ford f150 with a small block 302 v8 with a 2 barrel carb. Would adding a 4 barrel be helpful or wasteful? Not 100% on what to do, I could aslo just buy a newer 2 barrel but want to get some more horse power. Do have dual exhaust run and looking at upgrading the heads, and headers.
