How to Replace a Microwave Waveguide Cover

Microwave oven waveguide covers are the biggest reason why microwave ovens fail. Microwave waveguide covers protect the magnetron Antenna from foodsplater and other foreign objects entering the wave cavity.

The waveguide cover is usually made of a material called mica . Although strong when new , over a period of time this cover absorbs moisture and food debris and becomes soft or breaks .This causes the mica cover to arc and an electric storm happens inside the microwave. When this happens it is necessary to replace the cover as soon as possible to prevent irreparable damage.

You can then either order the correct shape cover to fit the make and model of your microwave or you can order a piece of generic mica material to trace and cut it to the correct size.

Whoa! I've fixed several microwaves but when I find/hear of one that 'sparks, ' I disregard because I thought it was the expensive magnetron, this is an easy add to my tool kit...

My waveguide cover has two holes for plastic pins, instead of the tabs. How do I replace those?

What type of metal is the waveguide made out of?

Simple steps to do so... You use a metallic sheet as a waveguide cover.
It fits perfectly fine.
