Good video, thanks. I have a new model in .357, mine is stainless. I too put the white grips on and installed a bisley hammer. Also did trigger work. The bisley hammer makes cocking the gun much easier on these old arthritic thumb’s because it is nearly 1/2” lower than the stock hammer (not as far to reach it). Love my Blackhawk . Also have a Henry big boy in .357 to go with it. Between the two it’s more fun than a person can legally have.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new model Ruger Blackhawk, you do not have to cock the hammer back, 1 or 2 clicks in order to open up the loading gate and rotate the cylinder?

It is "common knowledge" that the hammer can be struck hard enough to break the safety notch and fire the weapon but I have never seen it demonstrated or documented that it has happened. The closest I have heard of is the original SAA Army ordnance testing finding a defective hammer.

I would love to see someone demonstrate it.

You have to stone down the hammer notch until you get no creep and crisp trigger. I set mine around 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 lbs. The new model is the easy to set up the trigger pull on. Also, put a 30oz trigger return spring in.

I have an original unconverted 3 screw with less than 100 rounds through it. The hammer can be put on "safety" by pulling it back about 1/8th. You have to pull the hammer to the halfway point to rotate the cylinder and load, then put rearward pressure on the hammer while depressing the trigger to return it to the 1/8th position. The hammer won't strike the firing pin during its travel forward unless you have moved it to the furthest rear position. You can get the hammer to rest on the firing pin if you depress the trigger while putting rearward pressure on the hammer from the 1/8th position. This revolver always had a safety. It just wasn't idiot proof.
