The pain those parents all those parents are feeling now. Heartbreaking.

I drive in Alabama and apparently tailgating is a tradition there. Last time I was there I went to make a right turn, and the guy behind me blasted his horn and swerved into the other lane to avoid rear ending me. That's what happens when you're a foot away from someone's back bumper. Always maintain a safe stopping distance, and make that space even larger during inclement weather. You won't get anywhere any quicker by hugging the car in front of you, in fact, you may never get where you're going.

I was on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania several years ago in a heavy snow storm and the number of idiots I saw speeding and tailgating was awful. I found out later that a multiple car chain reaction crash occurred on that same highway. People need to slow down in bad weather conditions.
