The SCP Wiki has Mastered Horror

I've sometimes pointed out the amateur and hobbyist nature of the SCP wiki, but in a way that's what has helped it master modern horror.

Stuff based on real phenomena (like urban legends) is my favorite type of SCP content, really adds to the immersion!

Good horror also generally has other genres that it plays on. I’ve read both Science Fiction Horror and Fantasy Horror from Stephen King.
Under the Dome is pretty Science Fiction-esk.
Fire Starter is mostly Science Fiction, but has fantastical elements (such as the main character being a pyrokinetic anomaly).
Cycle of the Werewolf is entirely Fantasy, as is The Shining.
Misery and Gerald’s Game are essentially slice-of-life horror novels (Misery is about an author who gets rescued, kidnapped and held hostage by a superfan and forced to write a new novel for a series he didn’t want to continue. Gerald’s Game is about a wife who kicks her husband away from her, while she’s handcuffed to the bed for their *ahem* kinky games, when he doesn’t heed her request for him to stop. This accidentally kills him, and she is left trapped for hours reminiscing about her father molesting her as a child and her brother ‘goosing’ her. She is driven to the brink of insanity and goes to insane measures to escape her situation.)

Honestly, I don’t personally stan horror in general, but I _love_ Stephen King novels.
