After Effects CC 2022: Overshoot Logo Animation
This tutorial will show you how to create a ‘bouncy/smooth’ overshoot logo animation using Adobe After Effects CC 2022. The logo starts at the top and animates down past the center point, then up past the center point, and then back down to stop at the center of the composition.
Overshoot in Animation:When an abject misses or goes past the ’stopping point’ a little and then ‘bounces’ back to the stopping point. Visualize a pendulum that swings past the stopping point, but then returns back to the expected stopping point.
In this tutorial video, I use the word ‘Bouncy’ as this is how the animation of the logo movement feels to me, but technically, bounce in animation involves ’squash + stretch’ so the object looks like it is realistically bouncing off a surface as a ball would do.
Keyboard Shortcuts:Position Property: P
Bonus Tip:
Click on ‘Position’ (or any property with keyframes) under the layer name to select all keyframes on the Timeline (instead of dragging out a selection)
