[Invention] The BEST Mob Proof Door (Always Open for You!)

preview_player
Показать описание
A Super-cool mob-proof door that is always open for you! Verified to work in 1.9.2.

For the horse stable:
In the video it appears that I've used the carpet-sign technique for the whole floor, but I have only used it in the entryway. This is very important to make it work.

Intro made completely in vanilla Minecraft.
Outro music is Machinimasound - The Arcade

I challenge you to make a Player-Proof Door that's always open for Mobs.

I am getting pretty sick of people saying that one and two halves is equal to two. Of course it is! That's why you can walk through! But *the mob AI sees the half blocks as full blocks*, so they only see a one block gap in the middle, which is why they don't walk through.

Video is almost 2 years old, and Rex is still replying in the comments. Admirable.

I returned to this video 6 years later to check the comments to see if the sign-carpet entrance was patched out.

Saw nothing, so I tested it again in-game.

I can’t believe it still works! Double props to you for finding such a long-lasting fix for large practical entrances!

There has been a common misconception about this. This door should be used to generally keep mobs outside of your base without restricting your access. If a mob gets pushed through, just kill it for goodness sake! And if there's a skeleton, just move out of range! This is just to make sure you don't find mobs *IN* your base!

The tutorial wasn't clear enough, I ended up escorting 13 dwarves and a midget through mountains and forests while they did their best to get everyone killed, while a magic mushroom addict lectured me about a bad trip he had. And my voice is hoarse from shouting at them all.

For anyone having issues with this, an update video will be out soon.

Lesson of this video: Spiders are freaks of nature that you should hide from.

I really like the horse stable application of this. I have been looking for a good way to keep horses in an enclosure without having to constantly destroy and rebuild the entrance. Skeletons can still shoot through, though, and creepers can destroy it.

The sign and carpet one was really creative. Good job, I would've never thought of that.

Dude, this is Bloody brilliant!
I always had to spend ages making sure that my buildings were mob proof with a ton of fences and doors but seriously man, this is gonna help me so much!! Thank you!

If it's not working, you're doing it wrong. I've tested it in snapshots up to 14w11b.
EDIT: In Minecraft 1.8, you must have a *6 block deep* gap underneath the carpet for it to work.
EDIT: I haven't tested this in 1.9 but I suspect that it doesn't work due to the mob AI updates.

mobs also see sugarcane as a solid block, making it so they can't shoot you or walk though it, or even see you there.

dude those were some really cool ideas

as of 1.16.1 this works if you put a sign or pressure plate (anything mobs don't think can support their weight) in a 1 block deep hole with a carpet on top. mobs can push other mobs over the carpet though, so if you make it more than 1 block across they will be much less likely to push each other through the "door".

-This DOES work for ONE zombie.
-If there is a GROUP of Zombies, they push each other across the carpet.

I love love LOVE your design! It's the only one that doesn't look butt ugly! I had no idea you could put carpets on fences and signs and stuff. That's so cool, thank you!

Your design isn't so much a door as it is a mob inhibitor... which is very useful!
