When I tell you I straightened my hair EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. of my life growing up, I’m not kidding. People would tell me my hair looked “messy” when I wore it natural and down. But I would receive compliments when I wore it straight! Therefore, my CHI straightener was my favorite tool. I’m here to tell you my friend, whatever you have not yet embraced, I pray one day you love it. Maybe it’s your curly hair, nose shape, forehead size, tummy… etc. whatever it is the list is endless. Please know you are beautiful AS YOU ARE. I know it’s easier said than done but you can do this 💛 share below your least favorite feature of yourself and release it sister !!!!!!! Let it gooooooo! I’ll go first! My latest obsession in the mirror is not liking my nose and im going to let that GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I’ll be working on it and I pray you will be kinder to yourself in the mirror too whatever you are struggling with 💛

The problem with wavy curly hair is that it is misunderstood, when you are a kid and your hair is so voluminous and unmanagable after dry brushing everyday you/your parents tend to straighten it for you or even do permanant straightening on it. Parents should understand that not every hair has to be brushed everyday so spreding awareness about curly hair is crucial. Thank you india💖 I started learning about managing and caring for my curls about 6years ago from you and other curly youtubers.

This! I thought I had weird frizzy straight hair. No one told me my texture was actually wave and curl. Now in my 30's you've helped me find a new curly hair routine and I LOVE my wavy/curly hair. It's getting even curlier as time goes on and I'm so excited!!

Yes! My mom has straight hair and would blow dry my hair with no heat protectant or any sort of direction so it would be so frazzled. And of course brushed it at least once a day. I hated the way it felt. I would just wear it up from the time I was able to do it myself in 6th grade onward. Then I learned to straighten it in 8th grade and loved it! No more crazy frizzy half straight hair! Thankfully a friend with curly hair in 11th grade told me I had wavy hair and gave me tips. For the first time I liked my hair wavy. I kept straightening off and on but mostly wearing it up until I jumped all in on no heat and started trying to get my hair as healthy as I could 4 years ago. I LOVE my waves and curls now (37)! I didn’t realize all these years how good my hair could look!😍

Oh god I know :( I spent my whole teens straightening it everyday wishing it wasn’t naturally wavy and it got so damaged that it wouldn’t even straighten anymore and just ended up having to cut it really short anyway. Now I absolutely love my wavy / curly hair and hate it when it’s straight! Most of all I embrace my natural appearance and it just suits me so much better

I understand. In my 60's and wanting to embrace my curl pattern which is all over the place.
when growing up I would straighten my hair with big curlers.

Same at 11 I would spent two hours before school straightening my hair bc ppl said it wasn't culturally appropriate for me in school and said it was ugly 9 years later it's a trend 🤦🏼‍♀️❤️💯

It's the Polo for me. 😂 I'm a bit older than you, but it was - straighten your hair until it's fried, polo, (maybe layering 2 polos as a flex, popped collar of course!), and whatever else the Laguna Beach girls were wearing.

She just took good care of it to me and of course she learned to love her hair more and accept the way things are

Accurate for me! Can’t believe I was ruining my curls when I was younger.

My mom can't accept the fact that I have thick wavy hair since I was a child. i'm dealing with the aftermath of years of straightening and my waves are showing up now and she still thinks it's 'more beautiful' and 'more professional' to just straighten it.

to each their own, i guess

🤷‍♀️
