Wegovy (semaglutide) has been heralded as a revolutionary new weight loss drug, in this video I share everything you need to know about this GLP-1 receptor agonist (Saxenda / Ozempic alternative); how it works, the pros, cons and side effects.

We are coming to understand more and more about how obesity is a complex, chronic disease with multifactorial causes, so it is too simplistic to think that one medication may solve our obesity problems, but I am pleased that it is acknowledging the metabolic disturbance associated with obesity. Ultimately, we need change on a societal level, but this is not a bad start for those seeking to improve their health and lose weight!

Please note, I state that patients lost on average '12% body fat' compared to placebo, but actually it is 'body weight'.

My doctor said they couldn’t even prescribe me a plan to go to slimming world, because there’s no budget for it. They ended up signing me up for weight loss management at the gym, that then said I couldn’t do it because I was already a member.. obviously not working for me.. I do actually go aswell.. I suppose if I do buy it I’ll lose weight for sure because I won’t be able to afford food after.. (sorry whinge over)
