The problem with giving AT Games a pass on the sound emulation is that the sound emulation for the Genesis has been better than perfect for over a decade on free emulators on pc. There's no excuse.

How it has worked with other atgames systems is making a GAME folder and placing rom's in with the .bin format. You have to first have a zip file of the rom and then extract it, then copy the MD file to the GAME folder you made (all caps for GAME folder is important) then rename the MD file to .bin in the GAME folder and they should add on.

The sound emulation on this one version is fantastic. Seriously, it sounds as good as a first run Gen, and better than many standard PC emulators.

Recently a 2018 edition of the sega HD flashback has been out and this version has a sd card slot and there's a firmware update to add games to it

I honestly don't see why this would even have difficulty emulating Genesis. 1.2ghz in older android hardware has been perfectly sufficient in the past. Though I am surprised it is Android, it makes sense. As for the sound I think people get mad at the sound hardware of that little portable more than emulator sound performance, which may not be perfect but I feel very few everyday consumers would even recall what an actual Genesis sounds like enough to complain.

Glad you showed this off. I got one last week and was not disappointed with it, aside for one thing I will get to later. I think your comment about it being great if you want get into playing Sega games or have Genesis carts around. It is a fun console to spend some time trying games you never had, but not all of them are perfect. I'd heard there was a way to update firmware so your opening it up does explain how you accomplish that. My only issue seems to be the use of wired controllers seemed a bit less accurate than the wireless controllers it comes with. Go figure. I am enjoying it, especially the save states for the harder games. Glad they put the first Phantasy Star game on it. That game deserves some love.

You could have shown how it plays cartridges. That's the one thing it has over Nintendo's mini consoles. How does it compare to the Retron 5 or the Retro Freak?

Now i guarantee everyone is gonna want to buy this and resell them 3 or 4 times it's price because of the fact it runs on Android and sooner or later we'll eventually get a hack for this thing to add many emulators and Sega Genesis games as we want on the device!

So did you even test the cartridge slot that appears to be on there?
edit: since it likely downloads the rom off the cartridge like that retron5 or what ever, maybe it'll store the rom at a searchable location. which could give you hints on how to add your own.
