The saddest thing is that somewhere there's a couple of programmers who thought they'd landed a gig in game development for a new console, who had this conversation shortly after getting hired:

Sega totally redeemed themselves when they decided to contract M2 to develop the Genesis Mini. The difference is night and day

Just so you know, SEGA cut these bastards off. The Genesis Mini is an OFFICIAL SEGA HARDWARE PRODUCT, the FIRST since the Dreamcast.

It’s sad to think that this console was my first ever exposure to Sega Genesis games. As a young kid I thought this was what these games really played like, and the awful sound emulation actually scared me because it was so loud and uncanny. So thanks for giving me nightmares, AtGames!

I was tempted to pick this up at the Family Dollar for $40. Thank goodness I passed on it. Eventually picked up a Sega Genesis Mini and had zero regrets.

I got an Atari Retro Flashback from AtGames, and even though the company has had some bad ones (like this one), the Atari Retro Flashback is actually _really_ good! Games run smoothly, has HDMI support, and the wireless controllers that come with the console *_ACTUALLY WORK!_*

I think that AtGames should stick with the retro consoles pre-NES, because they _clearly_ don't know how to handle more than 8-bit games.

I got one of these for Christmas quite awhile back. I was very disappointed but marveled at how horrible it was, and, the next week, when I brought my friend over to see it, it stopped working completely.
