The phony outrage from some Liverpool fans is bemusing, Trent isnt a great defender by all means, but he's won things at Liverpool and been there for his playing career so far, he's done his job for Liverpool.

The same people moaning that he didn’t get the club a fee are the same fans that bemoan football becoming a business. The lack of a transfer fee should be the club’s concern, not the fans. It’s a weird thing to hate a player for.

I don't think Madrid would have spent big money on a transfer fee to sign Trent if he was under contact.

Liverpool take players from smaller clubs and its not an issue, so why is it different when its Madrid taking a Liverpool player?

Why are the Liverpool fans so salty towards him. He’s been there for years, played incredibly well, won everything he possibly could. Why is it so hard for the fans to say thanks for your service and wish him well. It’s not as if he’s signed for Everton or united. All seems a bit babyish from the fans

Very confusing reaction from Liverpool fans. Madrid offered £20m in Jan for a player with 6 months left, that’s more than reasonable. That’s his market rate. If Liverpool felt they’d rather keep the player than the money considering their healthy finances that’s on them; a club further down the chain would’ve likely taken the money. So how anyone can point a finger at the player is bemusing and embarrassing.

He’s a very good attacking full back. He will do very well at Madrid. My club, Chelsea, lost Christensen for nothing to Barca from our academy at the same time Rudiger went to Madrid. That destroyed us. We didn’t phone in crying to radio stations.

Honestly embarrassing from Liverpool fans

As a Liverpool fan gutted to see him leave..yeah he wasn't the best defensively but he's coming into his peak and his quality going forward is somewhat irreplaceable. Good luck to him, think he'll need it considering the very judgemental Madrid fans.
Luckily we have Bradley to come in for him - still would have been nice to get a few quid for Trent

Real Madrid are bigger in terms of international prestige. Look at what it's done for Bellingham. He's become a global superstar and a winner. Trent understands that this move will bring him commercial opportunities that being with Liverpool simply won't.

I’m a life long Liverpool supporter good for on him. We have had lots of great players come in and go. we will never forget him and YNWA

Liverpool is not a pinnacle club it's a top club, but there are bigger and better clubs to play for.

I'll never forget going to camp nou and truly feeling i was at one of the epicentres of football. A culture that was truly obsessed with the game and whose players moved in a way different to what I'd seen to the eye. I can imagine it's the same for real madrid. Never had that feeling going to anfield, and dare i say as a Utd fan, Old Trafford either and that was during fergie years.

The thing is, I support Liverpool not individual players. I’ve seen many players leave & only a few have gone onto better things. Good luck to him.

Leaving on a free and having Madrid not pay transfer fees for him helps Madrid and hurts Liverpool, Trent is meant to be a Liverpool fan should know this.
He knows Liverpool need every penny they get. He knows the hurt Madrid have caused in past 5-7 years. 2 UCL final defeats; 1 where Ramos injures our best player even though we were thoroughly outplayed and another where Liverpool absolutely dominated Madrid and Courtois gets MOTM.
Leaving to Barca Liverpool fans wouldn't be as angry. Leaving with a fee Liverpool fans wouldn't be as angry.
He owes Liverpool nothing as lots of people have said and can do what he wants and has given 20 years to Liverpool.
But Liverpool owe him nothing either, they've paid him well, made him a superstar, made him a millionaire.
Trent can make his own mind up but so can fans, I don't hate Trent for leaving but with leaving to Madrid on a free means his legacy is gone for me. Thanks for the memories Trent but don't come back.

Liverpool were adamant they were not going to sell TAA, so if Madrid had offered to buy him in last summer, Liverpool would have said no, so what is the player supposed to do? I get he is one of your own, but it's not like he is going to United or City. He is going to Madrid can hardly blame him if Liverpool fucked up his contract & let him leave on a free.

I think Madrid intend to use him in midfield. There's no way he's good enough to be a right back defensively for them.

Villa fans boo grealish and he got us 100m. You dont get to leave the club and still be treated as if you are still there, you have to choose
