since the move stealth rock was introduced, the best pokémon in every generation has been a stealth rock user, that’s kinda wild

Can you make a Uber version of this video? When you got to gen 4 I was expecting Salamence and then I remembered he got banned to Uber

btw tauros has a 100% usage too, the missing % comes from people not bringing it out in battles
you need a tauros on every team, games revolve around getting damage ranges in range for tauros body slam + hyper beam late game, and maneuvering yourself into the very common tauros 50/50

Tyranitar being the best for 3 generations whist being good in almost every other gen as well: *gigachad meme*

Tauros who fell off almost immediately after gen 1: ow my back

I actually think for Gen 7 I’d rather go with Magearna. Lando was a Swiss Army knife but Mag was one of those Pokémon that had completely different counters for its huge variety of sets and if you guessed wrong the price paid would be steep. I don’t think anybody was clambering for a Lando ban, but Magearna in my opinion was the most broken pokemon in the tier and should’ve been banned.

My two cents would be an honorable mention for toxapex in gens 7 and 8 but otherwise this was a very well researched and informed video. I mainly play ADV and skarm definitely has an argument for being number one a lot of top players are slowly starting to consider it the best just because of how you are basically guaranteed at least one spike each game no matter what the opponent brings

Agree with all but gen 5, as a significant portion of what makes tyranitar good is the fact it is one of the only checks to latios, and can pursuit it. Also, latios fits on rain weatherless and sand, while ttar only fits on sand.

Great tusk is so great while having a relatively useless ability (except for sun teams) imagine if it had a useful one like mold breaker, adaptability, technician... Not to mention if it had a boosted one like unaware, tinted lens, magic bounce...

you forgot to mention that gen 1 fighting type was practically inexistence and that's why the top 3 pokemon were normal types

i find it funny how gen 1 and 9 are the only gens where the best mons were ones who debuted in that generation, and those two have the most limited nat dex, with gen 1 obviously not having one at all

Good video, just thought I'd try to add some information for people who don't know these tiers, especially gen 3 since that's my favorite.
Note that the usage stats appear to be taken from ladder matches. This is notable because the three normals mentioned in the video have 100% usage in tournaments. Chansey is the closest to being non-mandatory of the three, because there are extremely rare teams that forgo it, but there is never a reason to drop Snorlax or Tauros.
Tyranitar is definitely not slow after a dragon dance. Jolly 252 speed is quite common, being the most popular spread according to ladder stats, and that outspeeds everything besides Aerodactyl, Jolteon, and Dugtrio at +1. There is no choice scarf in gen 3.
Sand doesn't really "put Pokemon on a timer" in gen 3, instead just negating leftovers recovery. Pretty much the only Pokemon that actually gets worn down by sand is Choice Band Salamence because pretty much everything runs leftovers.
Swampert being used more commonly than Suicune is not entirely due to sand immunity, but also due to resisting rock. Having a rock resist is considered mandatory, and even offensive teams like to have a rock resistance like a Metagross to pivot around rock attacks.
I don't know what the narrator was saying about using Blissey over Celebi because of sand. Both are affected by sand, and both are very good despite that.
Skarmory as number 1 is a very fringe viewpoint. I think only Jirachee and ABR (two very good players, but only two) have it ranked as number 1, and everyone else in the history of gen 3 has ranked Tyranitar as number one. It's hard to explain the specifics without explaining a lot about the metagame, but here's a quote from Vapicuno in the viability ranking thread:
"I always say Tyranitar is the #1 mon to use and Skarmory is the #1 mon to beat."
A notable buff to Tyranitar in gen 4 is the physical-special split, which means that its pursuit is using its attack stat, which is much higher than the special attack stat pursuit used in gen 3.
Excadrill is also a contender for best Pokemon in gen 6, in fact being the rank 1 on the viability ranking. Clefable ranked 2 and also an S tier.

I'd argue that there isn't an argument for skarm vs Ttar in gen 3, because the reason skarm is so good is because Ttar's sand bring many other walls down.

Love the video. I’m always astounded how it’s common knowledge that “psychic was broken in Gen 1, ” but Zam and Egg were good but never considered the best

Machamp even isnt even a true counter to standard lax bc it takes alot from double edge with spikes, and skarm can be beat by fire blast or thunder

Solid list
Gen 7 is easily the most difficult one to rank with the top 4 running the Mets including Mag, Tran, Lando, and Ash-Gren

Before watching, my predictions are:
Gen 1 Tauros
Gen 2 Snorlax
Gen 3 Tyranitar
Gen 4 Latias
Gen 5 Tyranitar/Latios
Gen 6 Clefable/Mega Metagross
Gen 7 Landorous
Gen 8 Weavile
Gen 9 Great Tusk/Gholdengo

Edit: only really missed gen 4
