Which is one of the main reasons the west coast of the US is having a water crisis. A large amount of water is wasted everyday to water the grass.

I grew tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins and melons in my front yard. My broke neighbours can "steal" them if they're hungry and I don't have to mow.

I hate mowing grass as a trend i wish it never started. I get trimming around the house and keeping it walkable to keep out mice and snakes but i like the look of grown grass much more especially since where i am grass is naturally only about 8 inches tall at max

Yep, they either had grazing animals like sheep to control the lawns, or get farming staff to use a sythe (as that's what a sythe was designed for, and is incredibly efficient for keeping lawns under control)

I saw that video of the clover lawn and hasn't left my mind. Also the guys who recommend local wild flowers and controlled burns to some land, can be better for wildlife and in my opinion more aesthetically pleasing. Who doesn't like flowers?
