The scene of Zoro soloing the execution squad at the start of wano is still one of the coolest scenes going and gave me mihawk vibes styling on everyone with the teeny sepuku blade

Watching Kin getting pierced with that sword from Kiado would've been the cherry on top! That scene was perfect. Him actually defending his Lord THIS time since he wasn't able to defend him 20 years ago. He failed the father but gets redemption with the son that looks just like his father

I feel like a big reason why Crocodile was such a good villain was because he was the first to actually beat Luffy twice before Luffy finally put him down. That and he had good buildup in the previous islands with Baroque Works.

in my opinion wano has some of the best highs of the entire series, He Laughed and gear 5 are so amazing it’s hard to brush off all those good moments to call it a bad arc just because some things didn’t get delivered on, i loved kaido, while he may not have gotten an insane backstory we already know everything about him, who he is, his true goals, what drives him and it really works for me, and the roger flashback with the “he laughed” panel might just be the best moment in the entire series for me

I agree with you on really enjoying the Law/Kidd vs Big Mom fight, mostly because I really expected one/multiple Straw Hats to defeat her but they weren't even involved in her end defeat. Plus Kidd and Law's combined attacks were just cool and creative. Really, all the end fights for the Straw Hats were great too, but Sanji's awakening did feel the most rushed to me.

1037 is honestly still my fav chapter from Wano. Just straight up, raw, testosterone fueled battle. Kaido shifting through his drunk phases and Luffy struggling to handle Kaido’s crazy tactics. The choreography was fantastic and the whole chapter was just super hype for me. I can’t wait for the chapter to get animated man

Top moment: oden seeing his precious toki hurt. We spent so much time with oden and saw his generous and adventurous side. We saw him build everything from scratch his home, his followers, his family. He never really bothered to try to kill orochi because of the threat of Kaido. They really took his kindness as weakness and Orochi really tried to fuck around and found out. My man was FURIOUS

I loved when Big Mom showed how expendable her creations are to her. Her sidekick Zeus was easily replaced & I think Zeus is now solidified as Nami's partner. I can't believe Straw Hat Zeus wasn't mentioned

I love KOL and Brago, but they're much more focused in on Powerscaling and the fights rather then the deeper parts of the story and the narrative. You two really get into the deeper parts of things and I appreciate it.

Just gotta say, the artists interpretation of merphys arc tier lists is one of the first ones I’ve seen that I agree with so much! A couple of small things I might move around and a big disagreements about long ring long land, but I think that tier list mostly fits my opinions, and I feel like there are several things in there I don’t tend to here that often from one piece readers

i think kaido will be more like an ace situation where his character, backstory and significance will be revealed more to the end when we found out more about the rocks pirates and god valley incident

Wano is a weird arc. The more I think about it the more I love it. It's definitely a top 5 arc for me. All of the Momo scenes hit me super hard. He has by far the best character arc in the entire series. After Wano, Momo became a top 5 character to me. Chapter 1051 is probably the most cinematic and one of the best chapters in the series. Gear 5 is the best power up I've ever seen and the Nika reveal didn't bother me at all. Wano has so many amazing moments, amazing storytelling and the best fights in the series. The negatives of Wano are definitely real. The end was super rushed. After the Momo speech it felt like Oda wanted to just get out of there and move on. Greenbull and Shanks show up and just leave after 5 minutes. Made very little sense to me. I was a massive fan of One Piece before Wano. I've been reading for like a decade now. But Wano renewed my love for the series. After Dressrosa and Whole Cake I still had faith in Oda. But my enjoyment of the series was going down very slightly. Wano was awesome and seems like the most important arc in the series so far. I can't wait for the Final Saga!
