VOGUING has been around for ages. From Wiki: Voguing, is a highly stylized, modern house dance originating in the late 1980s that evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s.[1] It gained mainstream exposure when it was featured in Madonna's song and video "Vogue" (1990), and when showcased in the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning.[2] In its modern form, this dance has become a global phenomenon that continues to evolve both stylistically and demographically.

The Ballroom Scene (also known as the Ballroom community, Ballroom culture, or just Ballroom) is an African-American and Latino underground LGBTQ+ subculture that originated in New York City. Beginning in the late 20th century, Black and Latino drag queens began to organize their own pageants in opposition to racism experienced in established drag queen pageant circuits.

Madonna has had many controversial moments in her career. I’m not sure this was one of them. Other than her wearing a sheer blouse revealing her breasts in the video, I don’t remember there being much of a stir. The song is a self-empowering nod to the culture. Gay, straight, black or white. Strike a pose, you’re a superstar.

Madonna is an artist who would push the controversies to sell records and make a statement... but she also had very powerful pop songs that made her a superstar in the 80's and beyond... She performed her song 'Like a virgin' at an MTV awards show in the 80's in a wedding dress, writhing on stage... it gave her notoriety. Years later, she performed on MTV w/ Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, French-kissing them both onstage... In the 90's, she published a coffee table book called 'Sex' which were photos of her nude in public... (Even she admitted she went too far w/ that one 😂) years before Miley Cyrus was running around topless in public. She introduced America to Sascha Baron Cohen's "Ali G" character in 2000 (Years before 'Borat') in the music video for the single "Music" w/ strippers and pole dancers.
Madonna knew how to get a reaction from the public, and it helped her sell millions of records.
I can suggest a few 'fun' songs by Madonna - "Into the groove"... "Who's that girl"... 'Cherish'... 'Frozen'... 'Secret'... 'Ray of light' ... "Don't tell me" ... 'Spanish eyes'... 🔥🔥

this song was released in 1990...funny that a movie about leading edge fashion had to go back 30 years for a theme song 🙂

I can't see any way this song would be controversial. It's about being yourself and opening up to new experiences.

Maybe not controversial but started a trend called "Vogueing", posing stylishly. She highlighted the stylish stars from old Hollywood. (Hope your hand feels better!)

I'm not really sure why you'd say this song was controversial. Some of the songs/videos of the previous album were thought provoking, but that was fairly common of the 1980's. This song was released in 1990 (don't know about the video) and critics liked it. Overall the song was well received. In certain venues where the audience was solely over 18, Madonna had topless dancers. One such dancer was Carrie Ann Inaba if memory serves. However, they were usually high on a pole, again, if memory serves. "The Devil Wears Prada" came out in 2006. The song was also covered in an episode of Glee.

I'm not native English speaker either.
Vogue means something that is popular or fashionable at a particular time. For example, you might say, “Bell-bottom jeans were in vogue in the 1970s.”
But you are right when Madonna sings about “Vogue, ” she is referring to both the concept of being fashionable and trendy, as well as a specific dance style. The song “Vogue” popularized a dance form known as voguing, which originated in the LGBTQ+ ballroom scene in Harlem, New York. Voguing involves striking poses and movements that mimic the style of fashion models on a runway.

I've been an American all my life, and never heard of this movie you like Irina...
And never heard this song "Vogue". But I like her other songs "Borderline" and "Material Girl" cause they swing Daddeo!
I noticed Madonna looked like Marlyn Monroe in this video. Which she dressed up as, many times.
