7:47 I would love to see this, however, every depth player signed under $1m is getting a full no-trade list. Massive advantage for teams because it eliminates the threat of waivers and the players in the lowest tier of contract leverage would get taken advantage of

Great episode! I have one question, how can a free agent sign a contract just minutes into free agency without prior negotiations? Wouldn't that be tampering?

"There is nothing I won't do to help..." might want to watch 'Training Day" before you make such grand commitments.

and from the "lawyer's/agent's" perspective, how does tampering on behalf of the players come into play?? especially if said team didn't give permission to player/aka agent the right to talk to other teams?

There is no going around. The best way to fix it is to maintain your value as an independent contractor so you are not considered for being moved. The solution Allan has is something a rich team can use to bury depth in the AHL.

eg. Corey Perry signs a 1 year SPC, at $1.15M, with a full NTC. But, since he can still be waived by the team, he can be sent down without fear of getting claimed. That is a circumvention of the Cap, which Allan has suggested the Trouba situation was, despite not providing any evidence or reasoning to support such a position.

If you play in a league where the greatest player in the history of the game can be traded and you get "blindsided" by this you should get a new agent. It is always a possibility, unless there is a contractual guarantee that it can't happen.
