This is triggering for me. I have a kidney disease and when I relapse I have to take high doses of prednisone that cause cushing syndrome. You gain weight and fat is redistributed to your face, stomach, and back. I wouldn’t even leave the house because I didn’t recognize myself and it was devastating. I have so much respect for her and the fact she is getting picked apart for this makes me feel like people just do not understand. Selena, like myself had a kidney transplant. Kidney transplant patients go home with around 26 medications to stay alive. Some medications taper down. As kidney transplant warriors our immune systems are pretty much wiped out. If our immune system was not partially wiped out we would reject the donated kidney. Many of our medications cause swelling of the face, mood swings, deadly infections, cancers, osteoporosis, and many other horrifying illnesses. Please also remember that organ transplants are not cures. Organ transplants give us a little more quality of life . Most kidney transplant worriors like Selena and I go through hell before and after transplant. In regard to our kidney transplants it takes a long time to find donors, let alone living donors. While we wait for a kidney donor we go through hemodyalysis, peritoneal dialysis, or if we are lucky get a pre emptive kidney transplant. We are warriors! Please do not judge. Especially please do not judge what you do not understand.❤
