Not were the Reapers only a waste of time, they’re also inconsistent and goofy. Pope was literally just installed as an 8 episode villain to waste our time. Still waiting for these extra bonus episodes to end and for the real Season 11 to start.

The reapers with all their military training could have been a greater threat

When that first Reaper was introduced, and said Pope´s marked Maggie, I thought to myself "Holy shit, we got a new badass Villain". Then saw him go out like that, wow what a waste.

Imo, if you think about the off screen things that might've happened, Pope marked Maggie because she was the leader of Meridian and most likely did a lot of damage to the Reapers, when they took over her safe place. Pope is a crazy cult leader, not unlike some that are around in society now. I think this could explain why Maggie wasn't around. She didn't want to bring this group to Alexandria, knowing what they're capable of doing. When most of her group is slaughtered, she then sought out her friends, for help. Seeing them hungry, and in need of resources, she decided to take the Reapers out, eliminating her threat and helping her friends. Imo, the Reaper storyline explained why Maggie stayed away so long, after being seperated from Georgie. I liked Pope and the storyline because we know that getting resources for Alexandria couldn't be easy and they had to have villains to make their struggle much harder than just going to Meridian to get the supplies. Maybe, if Pope hadn't been a crazy cult leader, he could've lasted longer. But, I think, Pope's storyline is setting us up for a bigger Leah storyline and what it'll do to Daryl.

yes, the Reapers arc was a waste of time. I agree, it was almost like the showrunners were just trying to fill space in a longer than normal seaason.. Still entertaining, but a bit disappointing and underwelming ending nonetheless.

The whole Reaper story was good until they took off their masks, everything from there stopped becoming interesting or suspenseful. I really don’t understand the point of it all, they need to focus on our main characters, Negan, Maggie, Daryl, Carol etc, a lot more to end out the show! it’s the final season!!

Im a fan of the Reapers. Liked em better than the Hospital Cops and the Wolves.

Have to say the s11 part A finale was pretty under whelming. We still don't know what went on with Maggie and Pope and now he's been killed off 😳 for an elite group they've been disappointing. 😕

Costa's acting was superb. His character was written piss poor. His emotionalness, killing his own people and recklessly sending his troops in to die didn't jive with how the character was supposed to be

They really should've kept Pope around longer. The Reaper stuff was good but it felt rushed. It might've been better to have them be the villains for longer than Part 1 and a little bit of Part 2.

Wasted Villain. You said exactly what I was thinking
He literally did nothing lol like damn not even a interaction with Father Gabriel? Really writers how can you not have that happen

Sadly after Daryll lying to Leah about his group situation and killing off a couple of reapers, I don't think there's any coming back from that as far as their relationship goes (hence her telling the reapers that Daryll killed Pope). So my guess is that Leah will seek vengeance by attacking Alexandria, leaving Daryll no choice but to kill her.

I was wondering if there would be something behind Pope and that other guy talking and laughing after pope killed Frost and tied him to the tree. Nope.

Pope's like a bridge character I think just for Leah's character development same as the guy who trained Morgan and got killed its like we get to see a new villain in the making. Well whatever happens the reapers will have the same fate as Gareth's group (Terminus) where they go after Maggie's group and meet their demise

I agree with your take on Pope and Reapers storyline in that the build up was better than the execution. Our introduction with the first reaper was scary. The introduction to the line of reapers in the woods was insane. . . Then it fell short. I was left wanting to see them in action. Learn why individuals were burned (Aaron and Gabriel came across a grave as well as Maggie's camp). Why the stringing upside down and tied to trees or at least see one happen. I would have liked to see Maggie confront Pope and Gabriel debate the presence of God. I feel we were introduced to the Reapers at a time when Pope was bringing their downfall.

The reaper conflict helped to further the Maggie-Negan arc.

Pope and Maggie didn't have like a big feud. It was quite a simple thing, actually. Leah told Daryl the reason they were going after Maggie and Co. was because they were a threat. You don't leave threats alive. The reapers found Meridian and wanted it for themselves, it was that simple. Also, I do feel like Pope and the reapers were a waste of time. I'd much rather continue the first half with some leftover whisperers, like the comics did. Episode 5 of this season is actually my favorite so far because it had those leftover whisperers.

Never seen a reason for the rest of the reapers to fear Pope. He was some.old guy with a god complex. I say one of the worse enemies in the series.

When Carl showed that he was bit in the tunnel Rick heard some footsteps coming from one of the dark tunnels and out of the dark tunnel appears Pope and says “ Do you feel that? All that chaos.” 😂
