I don't think it's this easy on older cars. Don't you have to hold the brake while you turn the key and wait for the car to turn on?

When do you stop cranking the switch that’s the hardest thing. For example if you crank it a little bit after it turned on will that damage or if you let go a bit too soon that might damage the ignition switch
