Malaska Golf // Tour Tempo and How to Find Your Tempo in the Golf Swing

Understanding Tour Tempo and finding your tempo in the golf swing is important to get a feel for what you can control on the golf course. The question is how do you find what your best motion is? Matching your timing on the range and your timing on the course is key.

Don't just play golf. Understand it.

This gentlemen’s instruction has to be the only one that makes sense and should be the only one that is studied and followed. Keep making good content. Game changed over night

The best bit of advice I’ve heard from any golf instructor, “Swing like you, not nobody else!” Mike’s is the only golf channel I have subscribed to as he describes everything about the golf swing in such a simple, straightforward way. Awesome, thanks Mike 👏🏻

Hi Mike, you just found the connection between Golf and Music
1 Tempo -Pace
2 Rhythm - Sequence
3 Timing - Keeping Everything Together
and so important too
4 Sound - Impact.
Malaska for musicians, Thanks a lot!

I rarely comment but that is worthy of a well done. The best I have heard the 3 areas of rhythm, tempo and timing explained.

That's what I like about your videos Mike, One size doesn't fit all. The way you explain the feels vs the reals is great.. I've learned a lot from your videos.. Thanks Mike

Hi Mike,
Always a treat and a pleasure to see your Videos.

Just got back to play this Game once again after a few yrs of absence due to Health complication.
All is well now and commited this yr to enjoy this beautiful sport was again. I came across your Teaching videos and found your instructions to be by far the most rewarding and simplest way to communicate the Golf Swing Fundamentals.
So far I had 3 golf range sessions and 2 Golf games, the first one was very ordinary and the 2nd one was quite impressive thanks to your instructions.
I always played sports in my younger yrs and tennis was one of them which I played competitive for a while. Once I took Golf I was hooked for Life, played competitive for a few yrs and reached a 14 Hdc. My aim this yr is to be a better golfer and played the Game as it should.
I always struggle with my Driver but in one of your videos (Driver/Alighnment) I noticed an upright stick and a "T" alighnment in your stance which was a bit CLOSE to the target line and not squareso I took noticed and implemented this on my next work out. I always struggle consistently hitting this club as I coudnt connect it properly, changing this set up I am now able to connect (Finally) square on and straight with a lovely trajectory. Boom!!!

There is a lot more than hitting balls but with your expertise and knowledge will make me take this game to the next level to Become a Complete Player.

Many Thanks once Again.

Golf is the only sport that I have (recently) tried to learn where it seems that everyone tells you that you have to do every specific little thing a specific way... or watch this person because that is what you should be doing. It became so robotic for me and I seemed to get worse and worse. This year is really my first year actually going out and playing and I am doing it all my way and learning it my way... while keeping your key points in mind lol.. and I've already seen myself improve!

I just looked at the swings you did for Be Better Golf, and the 2 iron swings I measured were almost exactly 27/9. Fitting the Tour Tempo protocol spot on.

Thank you. That is without a doubt, the single best piece of advise for learning I have ever heard!

Very well explained. It almost felt like a personal lesson rather than a video.

I’m a long time tour tempo loyalist. I have found that you do have to find “your tempo.” In general, the best players have between 2.6/1 and 3/1 from everything I have read. I tried playing at 21/7 but found that I actually hit the ball better at 27/9 which is a bit slower. The point of TT is that it tries to teach tempo which is rarely taught if ever. If you want an easy way to measure, and you have an iPhone, download their free frame counter app and see what your tempo is. No I don’t work for them or have any relationship with them other than have read the books and it has worked for me. The Novosel’s are great people and have built something that works, for most.

Totally agree. Challenge is controlling that tempo for all shots throughout the round. Believe grip pressure is related to tempo and sqaring the clubface at impact.

I metronomed the practice range at the BMW last year....
I found the players (large sampling) all were right around 77 ….
but the amazing thing was that held for the entire bag, from wedges to driver....(full shots)
