Cure your fear of flying!

Fear of flying is a fear of being on an airplane, while in flight above the clouds in the air.

some people also call it flying anxiety, flying phobia, flight phobia, aviophobia, aerophobia, or pteromerhanophobia - these are just other names you can use.

You dont need to treat anxiety caused by flying medication or exposure therapy (cognitive behavioral therapy).

before you try this approach why dont you try to reframe the way you think about turbulence on a plane

in this video we describe the place as being a pea in a jelly.

Take-off, bad weather, and turbulence appear to be the most anxiety provoking aspects of flying.

we dont want you to get panic attacks or vomiting at the mere sight or mention of an aircraft or air travel.

The causes of flight phobia and the mechanisms by which it is maintained were not well understood as of 2016. It is not clear if it is really one condition; it appears to be heterogenous. It appears that some people get aerophobia from being or having claustrophobia to the small spaces inside the fuselage of the plane or helicopter.

this video is all about a story of jade (from live the dash) curing and conquering her fear of flying in propeller planes. She was very brave and she enjoyed the flight in iceland on icelandair.

jade is not going to become a aeroplane pilot in an airport any time soon, but she is much happier now that she has got over her fear of flying on aeroplanes (especially prop planes)

first time i boarded a plane as a kid i was too exited to overthink the potential concequeces. on the way back we had strong wind and a rough landing. i stared at my dad to asses the situation and he strated comically panicking. i got confused and asked him if the wings could have fallen off. he told me "dont worry son, they are supposed to shake and bend.", i then asked him "but they could still break off, right?", he told me "yeah, they could theorotically, but extremely rarely. but if they were to fall off you would have little time to feel uncomfortable. some things are in fates hands". since then i appreciate the fact that travel by plane makes me appreciate destiny. in turbulence or rough landings now i still picture my dad overdramatizing and it gives me a chuckle

I reckon that pilots have plans for what they are doing after work, so I trust that they want to arrive alive to carry out their plans.

I know how safe it is but I can't stop feeling anxious and nervous on board.

The plane you flew on (the dash 8 q400) is one of the most reliable turboprop "propeller" planes in existance, and acts more like a normal airliner than a prop. Its one of my favorite planes and in my opinion theres nothing to be scared of.

Planes are the safest mode of transport in the world, safer even, ironically, than walking!

It’s smart to start with a short flight ! It’s also helpful to watch videos of flying to become accustomed to the sounds and movement

Tips and tricks from a person who went through this fear!
( sorry if there are any mistakes)
Facts:
1. Planes nowadays are one of the safest and fastest transports!
2. Take off is not always bad, it depends of the captain and plane!
3. Flying after take off is like staying at home, u do not fell the plane moving( mostly on big planes)
4. The bigger the plane the better!
5. If u have a long flight I would recommend to save up for bisness class!

Tricks
1. How to make time to faster
- watch movies
-try to sleep or close ur eyes
- go to the toilet and explore it
2. How time goes by
-lets say u have an 9 hour flight
• the first hour goes by very fast
•u can watch movies for minimum of 3-4 hours
• u will sleep at least 1 hour
• hour goes for eating
• 1 hour movies
• 1 hour before landing goes very fast!
- which leaves us with only 1 hour left!

Tips:
- where to sit, I personally recommend the middle part, and take the outside part, so u have space and don't bottlper people getting up
- food, depends on you, but I recommend eating something that is NOT fried and eat something healthy, since it will give u energy and u will fell better!
- drinks- as for teens I recommend to get a coca-cola to keep u in good condition or water with lemon which is my personal favorite and would recommend 10/10 ( keeps u anergyzerd and gives u motivation to drink more water), as for adults a good old wine will give u a good sleep or again whatever u want! DO NOT GET TEA OR COFFEE, MOSTLY IT HAS BACKETERIA!

Storytime of me having my long flight:

last month I had to do an 8 hour flight AND OVER THE OCEAN, and before that I had a 3 hour flight! The first flights take off was literally so scary for me and I thought I was gonna die, but there was nothing I could do then just to calm myself. We landed and I was so thankful, but next was the 8 hour flight from London to Washington DC! 2 minutes before boarding my plane I felt sick and I was literally unconscious, since I was so scared! I boarded last with my family and it happened that we got free bisness class! I was amazed and everything in it made it way better! The first 2 hours were an amazing experience and umm, since I didn't eat for around 10-11 hours i had no energy and literally couldn't move and I wanted to sleep so bad! But I just couldn't, I kept waking up and releasing I am in the air flying hundreds of feet up! Thankfully my mum calmed me and told me everything will be fine and I slept for 4 hours! When I woke up I was so happy, that we were landing! When we landed I felt so happy and relaxed! And ofc I did have to get back, and ummm.. long story short, but we took of and when we were over Greenland we took back to Boston since there was a problem with one of the engines, we had one extra night in the USA in Boston, which felt magical, the next day we finally went home we flew for only 7 hours and I didn't sleep the whole time I watched 6 movies and I was finally home!
THANKS FOR READING I WISH U LUCK WITH UR FLIGHT! REMEMBER EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY! 💗

If I saw that aircraft and I knew I was going to fly through bad weather I wouldn’t be nervous. This aircraft is a Q-400 Dash 8. It has technology that a lot of other aircraft don’t have that make it easier to fly in.

Funny enough turboprops are actually more reliable than turbo fans so you are plenty safe

When I was four, we flew (I think to Italy) to get to our holiday. The landing was bumpy and shuddering, everyone else was gripping onto their seat but when we landed I said "Yay!" And clapped my hands.😅

Honestly if you’re scared of flying it’s not that big of a deal… you’re not missing out on very much 🙃 long delays, cramped seats, not to mention people losing their sanity when they board (you can see many plane freak outs on here) so yeah don’t feel too bad 🫶🏾

It helps with this fear to know that flying is the safest form of transportation today

My fear stems from putting my life in the hands of 1 or 2 people. I know that the chance of something bad actually happening is extraordinarily rare, but there's always a chance one or even both of the pilots could decide to end everything at any moment.
