Opting out of PSSR, Guerrilla Games has outfitted Horizon Forbidden West and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered with its own upscaling solution. Oliver and Alex share notes on the upscaler and its remarkable image quality, all the modes are analysed and thanks to sterling work from Nixxes, we can compare Guerrilla's upscaler with PC mainstays FSR 3.1 and, of course, Nvidia DLSS.

I'm currently replaying Horizon Forbidden West (on a regular PS5) and I'm super impressed how good the game still looks. Especially water interacting with surfaces, I haven't seen any other game solve that this convincingly.

How can Guerilla pull their own upscaling solution out of their hat that rivals dlss? I'm mindblown

Guerrila games comes out and pulls an upscaler that rivals dlss out of nowhere. Im looking forward to see death stranding 2 potentially using this technique

Still the greatest technical masterpiece in gaming nowadays. It both looks AND runs better than any other game out there. It's ridiculous.

The best looking ps5 pro game and it doesn't use pssr.

This was one of the first games I played on the Pro and it looks outstanding and one of the few times where a console game basically just looks like a high end PC title

Replaying Forbidden West as my "first "PS5 Pro" game.

I played it on PS4 Pro around launch. It's a substantial upgrade.

Really gives me a lot of confidence when it comes to Guerrillas future titles and Death Stranding 2 in terms of image quality

I was so stunned when I fired up my Pro to check this game out and how well it held up against the PC version maxed out

The fact that Performance mode on Pro matches PC very high settings is insane. Pro has so much potential.

id5 and Decima are in the good books, can someone just take unreal5 out back and put it out of its misery.

Decima is the best engine in gaming, and if Guerilla uses it for another FPS game I am ALL IN on that

Guerilla Games! Please make your upscaling tech open source! It's GOOD.

Got my pro Sunday and booted up RE4 remake and was amazed with it. 4k 60fps with hair and rt. Even my 6800 had to use upscaling to keep a steady 60fps.

These YouTube videos don’t do these games justice on the pro, the games just look incredible in person

Even on the base ps5, this game looks and runs incredible in balanced mode with VRR and 120hz mode on. I've just been wandering around staring at everything because it's so smooth and shockingly clear.

No RT yet it looks better than most games with RT. And 60 FPS without stuttering, like in the other s**t engine. Who needs RT? Who needs UE5? Nobody.

Can't wait for next year to see what PS5 Pro is like with new release games that's made from the ground up to use PS5 Pro features

Hopefully this will encourage other studio's to try and build their own custom upscalers, seems to give great results and can be tailored to the engine and game.

Anyone notice at 16:04, the steel ball or whatever that is behind there has way less detail on the PC ? Are there settings on the PC that can be turned higher or is very high the best one ?

I was mega impressed when I booted into Zero Dawn Remastered recently. I've never seen a more pristine 4K image on my 42" OLED (and that includes PC and DLSS), to the point where it almost looks downsampled from a much higher resolution. Absolutely stunning and very interesting to see developers being able to tap into the Pro's ML hardware with their own Supersampling solution.
