Why pay retail, just print it yourself!

Why run to the store for a thing when you can 3D print it? Sure, it isn't safety rated for any amount of weight, and chances are your individual print will have different limitations, but that's not the point. The point is I made this, and you can too.

I can personally say it looks awesome in person and 100% usable. Great job Joe!!!

I can appreciate where your coming from.
The few items I've uploaded took two, three and even four redesigns and test prints before I was satisfied enough with the results to upload them and the first print would have been good enough for my purposes.

i've designed quite a few things myself since i got my 3d printer and i didn't share them because they are not 100% tested or the best i could do, but as you said they fit the needs.
what i think we need is a way to share actual 3d models where ppl can edit and improve them otherwise ppl will refrain from sharing STL files because others will point out flaws in them /print them at the wrong setting and blame the creator when parts don't fit..

Thanks for great information Joe I am also using Blender for 3d print modeling and this was very useful.

Re: which files to release. I would release what you have and if you have native files for blender or whatever design program you use, I would release those as well. I use OpenSCAD and the few files I have released have all been stl and openscad files, so, anyone that wants to use OpenSCAD can modify the program to adjust the output. Yes, the stl files can be modified themselves, but, if I have other specific files that can modify before the stl, I may as well release them in my opinion.

A possibility if you're not sure how much effort to put into finishing it and fixing it up is to share the source, then someone will have an easier time fixing it up than if it was an STL. Blender is free and there aren't that few people out there who can use it.

That is of course if you want to share to begin with, and if you didn't have other plans for it.

I've never seen more gimme gimmes then I have seen in the "maker space". There are a lot of designers out there, but for the most part, 3D printing is largely made up of printers, not makers printing out useless stuff they didn't make. It's just a mirror of the consumer world.

How strong are those hooks? Regarding STL sharing, I agree that there are a lot of entitled people out there. Even when they aren't demanding STLs, they are being rude and critical of designs that people were kind enough to make and publish for free. I can never understand that.

Recently I designed something and threw it up on thingiverse without having printed it off first.
The reason is that I wanted to make it available for others while i wait for my new printer to arrive. I will then print off the file on my new printer.
Sure, ti may not be perfect... but maybe someone will make something better in the meantime based upon my work and i will print that instead.

Seeing the whole thing assembled, it almost seems easier to have printed it as one piece if you have dual nozzles.

Cool design, but does it work? Put a 2 kg's coat with stones in pockets on the hook for 1 week!

If you set the model at corner to corner on the print bed it could be bigger simples

I will not ask for stl files but I do want you to continue these clips and promise to give them like for free !!! :)

Aesthetically I don't like this hook design :)
I always thought these kind of hooks look kind of ugly. Maybe they remind me of antlers or horns or something. Maybe it's because it's so typical? You'd use a milling round over to make a wood board like that.
Thanks for the video!
