HOW TO TEST RELAY ANY RELAY

Testing a relay is not as complicated as people think. You will need a 12v power supply or car battery and multimeter voltmeter. This will work on most car relays. Some might differ.
We even opened one of the relays so we can show you how it functions and what it happens when there is electricity charge.
As you can see we had to relays and we tested both of them. Even though both relays were ticking, one of them was not functioning.

I was reading on a website about testing for resistance and they said to test with no power connected, but this was not specifying relays. Every mechanic actually tests just like you guys.

Can you use a car battery to test the relay, or do you need that portable car starter? I'm assuming it'll work but just double-checking.

Is it safe to use a higher amp jump starter for testing?

Good afternoon, your videos are always informative. I am having a problem with 2008 Honda Odyssey (290k miles). I have replaced alternator twice, but check charging system and battery light pops up with VSA light too and sometimes it's self and goes away usually. I replaced the battery, battery terminals, checked the motor oil, checked the fuses, checked the ELD( electronic load detector) everything thing seems fine. The alternator I got replaced twice is remanufactured bought from Advance auto parts. Got inspected the battery and alternator from AutoZone. They are charging fine. Personally, checked the alternator performance by removing negative terminal while car is in start and idle position, car doesn't shut off. Is there anything I am missing to find the issue? I forget to mention that the ground wires seems okay too, because it never drains a battery even if I start the car after two days. Head lights doesn't flicker's either!
