Karen Read Jury Struggling to Reach Verdict in Boyfriend Cop Murder Trial

After over 18 hours of deliberating, the jury overseeing the Karen Read boyfriend cop murder trial said they have not reached a unanimous verdict. Judge Beverly Cannone announces she will be sending the jury back to continue deliberating, stating it is too early to make any decisions about their issues reaching a verdict.

Karen Read faces several charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence of alcohol, and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. She was arrested in February of 2022, a few days after John O’Keefe died. If convicted, Read faces life in prison.

How does the judge and commonwealth get away with coercing jurors to change their opinions on guilt or innocence. Seems so un democratic and fraudulent and one sided and non justice like. So jurors get punished by having to stay longer on a case for standing their ground on guilt or innocence?
